About 2 months ago my wife wrote her car off in a highway accident. I bought her a car today, as we got sick of waiting for the insurance company to come good with her payout (still waiting...grrrr...).
So before today, we have literally gone everywhere on the bikes together - as I don't own a cage. Between commuting and just doing our thing, we been averaging around 500-600 miles per week.
The Connie is a lot more comfortable for both of us than the Ninja. The seat is better shaped for 2-up and before the riding position is more upright, you don't get that feeling like the pillion is slumped over you, which can be a bit tiring on long trips. Also the design of the Ninja's seat makes it hard to stop the pillion sliding down during deceleration, even with smooth braking.
I have the Ninja's suspension set up stiff, which doesn't help 2-up. Whereas even when tightened right up, the Connie handles about the same, pillion or no. I'm constantly scraping pegs and even panniers on the Connie with the wife on the back, and it always feels really solid and planted.
But, despite the ZX14 not being as good as the C14, I still find it to be a lot better than most sports bikes, and really quite good considering what an awesome performance sports bike it is. I'm pretty sure the '14 is better 2-up than the 'Busa. And comparing how good the ZX14 is to say a supersports litre bike is laughable. I've done 2-up on CBR's and it's not fun. They handle like a pig with the pillion sitting way up on the silly little "seat", with their knees around their ears.
