Slip-on options??
04/16/12 1:04 PM

So what is available as far as slip-ons for the 2012?

Mainly I'd like to shed some weight, and also make some clearance for my luggage. More clearance for dropped pegs would be sweet.

Also, I'd like to find something that isn't too loud.

If I pick up a HP or two, thats just gravy, although I can't say I need it!!!

Under $700 would be a bonus too.

OK now I sound too demanding :)

In general, I think the cost of after market exhausts has lost touch with reality. 10% of the cost of the bike is outrageous IMO.

spend $50n and weld some car exhaust tips on the stock midpipes, get a tune if you want. Will sound cool and lighten up and be cheap. Save the real $$$ for a full system.

Lol thanks for the car tip advice. I'd never spend the money on a full system for this bike.. I just don't see the point. Had a Micron on my blackbird and liked it, but there I actually wanted more power.

I'll most likely go with 18" Delkevic CF/SS cans, assuming they release them for the 2012 in a timely fashion.

There was a thread here where someone put slip-ons from a previous year on their 2012. I think it req'd making a new mid-pipe on the right side.

I can't find that thread. Does anyone have a link?

That was for an Australian guy, and he put Yoshi's on had the mid pipes modified to suit. I was going down the same path but decided to wait until Yoshi release their own mid pipes. I have been informed they will be available on the 27th of this month. Both mid pipes need to be modified somewhat.

If I ever get a 14R I'll just put some inexpensive slip-ons on it to dump those huge, heavy stock cans and free up the breating a little, but mainly to lose that weight and let it run cooler, put a filter in it, and get the ecu reflashed. That bike already has enough power to keep me happy as is. Besides I'm never getting rid of my turbo 06 anyways, so another 14 would be strictly like my busa, a mostly stock dependable street ride that I can hammer whenever I want, as hard as I want, with no worries. And mostly stock bikes make great long distance riders, nice and reliable and great peace of mind

I did quite a bit of Dyno testing reguarding the "quiet inserts" and found HUGE power losses. My bike with the "quiet insert" made 14.5% less HP (29 LESS HP).... Do yourself a big favor and get actually % of HP loss with the "quiet inserts".

Ya, I'm afraid that I might because I'm planning on waiting for Gen3 and that's a long way off.

I got the CF Muzzy slip ons and I like them alot. Truth be told though I've always put akros CF/CF cans and Ti EVO2 full systems on my bikes and wanted to with this one. Only problem was they don't make a full system yet for this bike, and the older headers wouldn't clear. I figure i'll end up selling the muzzys when the full akro system comes out.

A lot of the C14 folks are getting Leo Vince slip-ons now. They come with a quiet optional baffle, and still flow pretty nice.

And it gets rid of the potato cannon.

Leo isn't offering slip on's yet for the zx14R. Two Brothers, and Akropovich are. Yosh just made theirs available Friday! The R77's looks good as usual. The Akro don't work for my personal taste from a looks perspective which is too bad.

....uh-huh?

I knew it.

I've ridden a 14R, it was just a quick rip through the gears, no carving or anything, and its an awesome bike. But it didn't hold a candle to my boosted 06 in the "Big Rush" department. I'm pretty happy with the bikes I have now.....I think it'll be a long time before I pick up a used 14R. Probably longer than you Rook......cause your weak lol, I can feel the beast calling to you
Nah.........I think me and you will hold out with our busa's and 14's and keep the first gen forum busy lol.
