Jack placement
07/15/15 2:21 PM

Hey guys. I hope your summer riding is going safe.

My Kawi scissor Jack just came in so now I can lube that steering bearing. My question is does anyone know where to place this Jack. I'm looking for two holes where the pins fit but can't find them. Thanks all.

I don't think it has pin holes.I think you just align it up under there, then go for it.SLOWLY.Are the weight bearing arms adjustable? As terrible as this may sound...I've only seen a mechanic lift it under the headers. You don't need to lift much to get the front off...but you definitely should have a swingarm stand to balance the bike.My mechanic had a front wheel holding chock, and the rear holding chock.

Hey Grn. Kinda bit choked now. Spent 400+ on this thing and seems useless. The service manual calls for this Jack too. Yes the arms are are adjustable horizontally anyway. Maybe I should just take the whole exhaust off (Yosh) cause I don't want any weight on that header.

I'm going to make a wooden chuck, custom made, fits under the 4 into, no need to remove. I'm either 4x4 with a saw, or build with 2x4, but I want a 4-point block or shim between jack and sump cover. That means I can run a 2by and run the length of the angle is one side of 4 points. Look how much sump surface I have covered, not send a nail thru it with less 'surface spread.'

See the shim clearing the pipe?
See the surface points is spread the 2by?
See even if the pipe forces you to make just 3-points, I am still stable once the bike is upright and centered in the jack, and square is the jack under the bike and its own stability once the bike sends its weight fore and aft.

It shouldn't harm the header...long as the lift is gentle and not but an inch off the floor.Stabilizing the bike is the tricky part.Gotta make sure the wheels are chocked(sides).Rear spool swingarm stand will work okay.If you could chock the rear it would be better....that way you won't be lifting the gross weight.Just the front. That's the light(er) part.

I took the exhaust off. Good thing I did. The numbnutz that installed it didn't tighten the nuts properly. I have a professional bike lift for the bike so stabilizing it won't be a problem.

I believe the pins git into a squrish bracket that will fit around the edges of the oil pan ONLY. That's why theye say to use the jack, so you don't have any chance of denting your oil pan jacking in the middle. Personally, I would heed this. Order the proper bracket for your engine.

I said.."Just the front. That's the light(er) part"..well what I meant was, that's not lifting the entire weight as you would be by using a rear stand also.
