Didn't read the whole article, Scotty but this seems to be a common sense approach to me. If someone who sits 3-4 minutes at a red light and then runs it when no traffic is present, they don't deserve a ticket. Too bad Illinois had to make a law to avoid fixing the lights and stop their police from NOT using common sense in writing citations.
So, all I need to do in IL is stop at a red light and take off as soon as I want? or is there a set time period I have to sit and wait? Who will know if or for how long I waited? actually sounds like it opens the door to a lot more traffic accidents at intersections. I guess it was cheaper than fixing the lights so they work safely for motorcycles.
When all is said and done, I doubt this will impact me much while riding Illinois. Riding is pretty much an exercise in avoiding cages anyway. The new law is more of a problem for cagers who now don't know what to expect at red lights. So I guess don't stop being careful running a red light in Illinois just because it is legal now.

I found that frustrating my self Bros as yes the "pressure pads under the surface dont react to the weight of my bike/s over years, but I found one great way to get passed this by Flashing the Traffic Lights, the Light sensor in them activates & then I go through,It works every time since i've adopted this Technique.

hm- I'll have to try that. I usually end up making a legal right hand turn at the red light, going down the road and turning a U-ee. Then come back and make another right. By that time, the light has changed.

3.5. In municipalities with less than 2,000,000 inhabitants, after stopping as required by paragraph 1 or 2 of this subsection, the driver of a motorcycle or bicycle, facing a steady red signal which fails to change to a green signal within a reasonable period of time because of a signal malfunction or because the signal has failed to detect the arrival of the motorcycle or bicycle due to the vehicle's size or weight, shall have the right to proceed, after yielding the right of way to oncoming traffic facing a green signal, subject to the rules applicable after making a stop at a stop sign as required by Section 11?1204 of this Code.
At least in Wisconsin it has a time. I can see losing that argument in IL. court, no matter how long you waited.

heres an article on how these work, first most sensors are detecting the steel in a car what I find that works for me is when you pull up to a light most times you can see where the sensors are try putting your kickstand down a lot of times this will trigger the light. just don't forget to put your side stand back up lol

Illinois has always had a strong motorcycle lobby, what with the 4th-largest motorcycle registration numbers behind California, New York, and Florida. Hopefully they will never go nuts and ban modified exhausts like Denver, Colorado, or start confiscating your bike for pulling a wheelie like Florida.
