Is it normal to have soot in my pipe? Its enough to dab with the tip of your finger, and at startup it blows a hint of black smoke. No smoke is visible while riding. I have a 2007 with the flies pulled, full tsukigi,powercommander with a jeffo map.

No. Your map is probably too rich. I would call Jeffo and tell him this. -bg

or put a spark plug in the tail pipe

I have some soot. No smoke though. I'm not worried too much. The stockers had soot inside of them too. You could see the black stains on the end caps after some condensation got blown out. My last bike had that too. I don't think it's abnormal. It will be interesting to see what Autotune tells me when i get a chance to try it out.

3. Is it hard to start? No.
4. Does it idle poorly? No.
5. Is it sputtering at high rpm like it's running rich? No.

If you said NO to all 5 questions, you have no problem. Each time the bike fires off a squirt of gas, remember you science. Cannot destroy matter, ect., right? Liquid/gas/solid is licking your exhaust pipe with black soot turned solid. What you wipe off are thousands of squirts of gas turned into carbon. It's that simple if all are NO answers.

Why, is it running like?

Jason and Freddy over at East Side Honda will throw it on there dyno and custom tune it for you. Tell them Kevin Harrison sent you and they will give you a good deal. When we were out riding the other day I thought it was doing fine. Not really much backfiring and no smoke. I could smell gasoline a couple of times while pulling up to redlights. Probably normal though.

Bike runs like a bat outta hell and the only gas smell that Im aware of is what bice noticed on our ride the other day. Guess I'm good then? just dont wanna foul the pluggs I heard that was some major BS

and has just started smoking when you rev it to a higher rpm. Taken from Brock's tinyurl, this is where things begin to get vague. 2,500 miles and does he sit there and rev the piss out of his bike since day one? I mean, now he sees smoke?

How about we see it this way for one example. Since he is ripping the throttle open, this sends gas to the WOT. What he did next was shut down that rpm. Now what happens to that WOT gas signal is load up the pipe. So you keep revving the bike with the TPS hitting a bunch of WOT's, then yeah, I can see some smoke coming out of the bike you keep the squid wrist on the grip load my exhaustip.
