Rear center stand install

Zx14...opened box to bags n bags of small parts...yikes. Most of the work is in the area of the left rear side. Removing and installing a big lift handle. The actual install of stand is basic n easy...2 main bolts n a spring with 2 smaller bolts attaching a spring catch for the front of spring...oh and of course removing exhaust...probably took me three hrs.going slow and being careful. The down side to installing a rear stand is u must place a rubber stopper on factory exhaust attached to an already there flange with corresponding hole...otherwise stand with press up against bottom of bike without the stopper and ride against the chain till it's destroyed. Unless aftermarket exhausts have this feature to allow install of a stand stopping mechanism you can forget about installing aftermarket exhausts and also having a rear center stand. Wished I'd known this up front...been looking at all the exhausts available.

You can get a centerstand stop plate that bolts to the right side of the underframe from Brocks or now on ebay. I had to weld some more metal on to it to keep the stand from hitting the chain. But Privateer sold me a super nice stopper that bolts to the same place. Has an arm with a rubber stopper. Works really good. I don't know the brand or where he got it from. I have a Yosh 4 into 1.

Yeah I found that out the hard way, too. I ended up buying a small piece of stainless plate off eBay and cutting and fabbing a stainless bracket matching the OEM rubber stop bracket as accurately as I could, and then had a guy weld it to my Muzzy right-side mid pipe. I don't allow the center stand to sling up and stop on its own; Instead I control it with my left foot so it doesn't slam up. Once it's up it rests on the rubber stop and all is good.
