FRIGGING DMV!!!
08/18/13 6:13 PM

Hi guys. Well here's the problem. My son had a permit for his M/C license. In the old days after your 6 months it qualified you for the official endorsement, I think you maybe had to take the written. So he goes to the DMV and they tell him he has to take the MSF course again and get another 6 month permit. So they want him to take a learn to ride class he has already passed and ride a freaking Honda Rebel 250 around a parking lot. This for a kid who has put over 3000 miles on his CBR600 including a 1500 mile trip to Oregon, all without tickets or accidents. This is a complete waste of money and everyone's time. I am going to call Sacramento and try to convince someone that this is the height of stupidity. He's willing to take the written again and even ride around their stupid parking lot if need be.
I just hope someone with an ounce of common sense helps us.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Go get another appointment or just walk in again is to find a different clerk. You'll hear a different story. Bring your MSF certificate. Ask them to show in the vehicle code that they have to take it again. Where is that info coming from out your ass or out of some book? And ask if I have to take my driving test each year or is this a $$$ driven scheme ask?

Gotta love CA DMV. Think Hub has it nailed. I have used this approach for problem solving myself. Amazing how much the necessary steps change from one employee to another.

Good luck,

Thanks for the support. They actually have on file the fact that he completed and passed the class. So, if they won't help out, he is going to wait until his 18th birthday, which is Sept 6 and then go in, take the written and get the damn thing.
But what a pain. I guess having no common sense is a prerequisite for working at the DMV.

Never thought I would hear these words out'a my mouth. "Thank God we have Harley."

mail in your $90 every couple years and that's all there is to it. Emissions are no issue for bikes.
