Very cool. I like the blacked out look.
Here it is, home at last. Had to take the hump off so I could give the kids and wife a ride.

I don't want to be booted from the forum on my first day, but when the ZX-14 came out in 2006 I thought it was one of the ugliest bikes I'd seen. Of course, it's not like I have a great taste in aesthetics, having owned a B-King :)

Anyway, I never gave the ZX much thought because I figured I'd never own one. But about six months ago the B-King began to leak oil (long story, but it was because the shop pinched a gasket after adjusting the valves and oil was weeping by). I had 42,000 miles at this point and I figured it was maybe time to trade up before things really broke.
I couldn't possibly move to a slower bike, and I had always had my eye on the BMW1000RR so I started scanning the web for some deals. Turns out a local dealer had both a used BMW and a used 2012 ZX-14R. And I thought, "Hey, the 14R is faster than my B-King and it's not as expensive as I thought it would be. Let's take a look."
I rode both bikes, the BMW first. The BMW is insanely fast, as everyone knows, but it's very tactile and involved. You know you are going fast. Oh, and your heels are almost up to your arse when you ride. Plus I'd never get the wife on the back of it. Still, I loved it. Then I rode the ZX-14. Did the same route as the BMW so I could compare apples to apples. My first thought was, "Oh, it's not as fast as the beemer." Then I looked at the speedo and about choked. I couldn't believe how 'no big deal' the Kawasaki was about going triple digits.
Long story short I looked all over the place for ZX-14Rs in my price range and found the nice example above in Texas. They were great about taking the B-King on a trade and bent over backwards to make the deal happen on my schedule. Don't know if rules permit, but I'll give them a shout out: http://www.freedompowersportsfortworth.com/
And, as much as it may sound like I'm trying to get in good graces here, I am really starting to love the look of the big Zed X. It has grown on me. There's nothing else out there like it.
