Typical leftover MY deals to expect?
06/16/19 9:41 AM

Hi guys. I'm strongly considering getting a ZX-14 and am wondering about typical deals to expect for leftover inventory from previous model years. Currently, there are a lot of MY18 SE models available nationwide here in the US, commonly priced between $10,999 and $11,500. I also came across a 2017 SE factory demo model (to be sold as 'new') with 1,200 miles, also priced at $10,999. One dealer for the MY18 bikes in particular insisted that it is dealer cost (sounds like typical retail BS to me though).

So my question is this: Is that the bottom level of pricing after Kawasaki rebates regardless of the year of the leftover inventory? Or do these models sell for even below that? How about in the off-season from October through March?

I am not particularly in a rush since the ZX14 will be an add-on to my garage, not my only bike. So I can afford to wait until the winter if unsold MY18 bikes are likely to receive additional factory rebates (or MY19 models for that matter) from Kawi US.

I've been riding for a decade but this will be my first sport bike and I have chosen ZX14 for specific reasons. Those, and my myriad of questions about the bike will have to wait for their own thread. For now, I would appreciate your input regarding pricing.

Those prices seem pretty good to me as long as there aren’t a shitpile of dealer add on bs on top
I paid $14.5k out the door for a new 2014 in Dec of 2014. So not exactly a left over and the deal included the additional 4 yrs of kawi warranties that I have not used one dollar on

Thanks for the reminder on the dealer fees. That dealer is charging $890 for freight, setup, documentation fees. They are out of state so no sales tax is included in this of course. That will run me another approximately $900 or so here in Colorado. And approximately $500 or so for shipping, which I would arrange on my own.

A friend bought a left over 2018 for 10,500 at Team Charlotte Motorsports a couple of weeks ago.

Demo: 1200 miles of I'm not following book procedure for 10-g's.
0 Miles: For the same price.

Demo: I'm this year's improvements.
0 Mile: I have a team that shows how they can improve this year's model in a subtle way.

Demo: I'm more this side of growing a tooth.
0 Miles: I'm as fresh as a leftover can be for the same money.

Demo: I'm as bulletproof as it comes no matter how broken in.
0 Miles: No, I'm as bulletproof so pick me!

Thanks for the suggestions so far, especially for info on current/recent deals you have seen. I called Sport Cycle today and will call others tomorrow when they open. SC does not have any 2018s left and cannot get them through dealer trade either. But their OTD pricing policy is great. If I do not find a suitable leftover ZX this summer, SC will be on my list for 2019 leftovers.

Regarding demo, yes, I didn't consider it seriously-enough specifically because I don't know how it may have been used/abused as a demo bike and by whom. It would need to be discounted much further AND have a 60 month Kawi warranty to make me change my mind. And I am not big on that all-green color scheme either...

Keep the input coming. I am heartened to see so far that even the prices I have seen aren't exactly bad based on what many of you paid.

Bought my leftover '13 from Sport Cycles of Rockingham for $11,500 and had to register it here in FL, so another $800 or so.

At the time I had been browsing and saw SC had the one I ended up buying up on eBay for $11,499, then when I went to actually buy it maybe a week later the deal was off and it was $11,999. I called and they wouldn't honor $11,500, so I told them to call me if it gets back to $11,499. About 2 weeks later they did, so I bought it.

My deal, plus the others above, seems to me like it gives the idea that somewhere in the $11K - $11.5K range is prob the low range for leftover 14's.

Of course, now that I think about it, mine was FIVE years ago already!

Update: I bought the one for $10,999 yesterday! The dealer is in the Seattle area. Bike was to be uncrated yesterday and should be ready by tomorrow. Gray/black/orange color scheme.

My first choice was the gray/green scheme but the Kentucky-based dealer who had one had taken someone's deposit on it when I first called on Saturday AM. Called them back when they reopened yesterday and they said it had been picked up. So I called the Seattle dealer and committed to their bike instead. KY rep called me back in the evening to say he was mistaken and the customer had bought a MY19 bike, not MY18, and latter was still available. Oh well...

The OTD price between both dealers was within $50 of each other, so $10,999 does seem to be the lowest retail price on leftovers, at least this year.

Another positive note: A Washington-based small volume shipping company, Motoshippers, will have a driver heading my way tomorrow or Friday so he should be able to pick up the bike, in which case I might have it in 3-5 days. Got lucky with timing there!

I will start a new thread about general bike questions/upgrades. Thank you all for your help in this one.
