Kallen the 06 ZX-14
06/06/25 5:54 PM

Hey all, I'm a longtime lurker and I figured it was time I get my own profile. I've been perusing this forum for the better part of 8 months now, trying to absorb as much information as I can about my bike as well as look for solutions to some of the issues that have cropped up under my ownership. A bit about my bike: Her name's Kallen, after the Code Geass mecha pilot (also where my profile name comes from). She's a 2006 ZX-14 in passion red. I picked her up last year in early July with around 14k miles on her clock and am presently sitting at 22.5k. I've been absolutely adoring her. Tons of power for when I want to have fun and go fast but also can afford to sit quite comfortably cruising on the freeway thanks to the long wheelbase and oversized 4-cylinder. My buddies are all jealous on their 600s and 650s of how long the gearing is on the 14 and how calmly it can handle when you aren't heavy on the throttle. I don't know much about her past, only that I am at least her 3rd owner, but possibly 4th. By my guess, one of the previous owners bought her and then left her in a garage for a few years, as 14k miles for a 19 year old bike seem a bit low, considering I've already clocked 8k in less than a year. She definitely seems to have a few old-bike-problems but I still love her dearly and do my best to take care of her.

A little bit about me: I'm currently an engineering student in college, hoping to graduate within the next two or so years. I've long been a car enthusiast but in more recent years I was introduced to the idea of motorcycling by one of my best friends. Taking that MSF course and getting my endorsement on my license was probably one of the best things I've done as I'm madly in love with riding on two wheels. I take Kallen everywhere I can, as long as there's no snow on the roads and I don't need to carry anything that wouldn't fit in my backpack. I'm looking forward to being in a community with other like-minded riders.

Welcome Kozuki. i can already tell you're lower rather than upper but good day, eh? I live in Iron Mountain on that little strip of land nobody knows about.

Thanks. Guilty as charged :P though it's good to meet another Michigander, someone who also has to put up with winter. I haven't been all the way over to the Iron Mountain area but I have spent a little bit of time in Menominee as well as the Copper Country area. I almost ended up going to Michigan Tech up in Houghton for college. It's absolutely gorgeous over there. You must have some pretty epic, scenic routes.

If you're in the mood for scenic rides, there's plenty of lakes and rivers but often pretty rough roads back in the sticks. I have mostly one route I follow. It's about 50 miles of county highway through farm country and forest. There's lots of twisties and many places where you can really attain some high speeds if you dare. It's hard to talk about riding without mentioning the deer but they stay in the woods more at midday this time of year.
