It may be about time to repack my Yoshi's cans. The literature that came with 'em says to repack every 5000 miles, I've got about 7000 now. Anyone else had to repack yet and what did you use? I hear Silent Sport packing made in Germany is the best but pricey at about 40 bucks per pipe. I remember someone else saying they used high temp mineral wool used to insulate wood burning stoves and it worked well. Standard fiberglass fron the autoparts store works OK but burns out quick.

Sorry, here I go jumping on Kerry's band wagon again. But if you use his Silent Sport packing materiel it might be expensive right off the bat. But I would bet you'll never have to re-pack your cans again. I've got 11K on mine since I got worried after reading your post about burning up the carbon fiber cans a couple of years ago and sent mine in for repacking. I plan to send them in when my bike hit's 25 thousand miles. That will be 15 thousand miles between repacks. Even if you do have to repack them again, you won't have to buy the full amount the next time. You would just have to buy the amount needed to basically top off your cans.

I have to agree with Phil, repack it to make it last. The 5K intervals are rather inconvenient.

I bought a set of Area P, 2 inch core, fiber carbon slip on's right after I got my 14. LOVE them!!! I don't remember how many miles were on the bike when I installed them. But I am guessing under 2 thousand. Have 21,821 on the clock now, just looked, LOL!! I had around 9 or 10K on them and sent them back to have re-packed after getting scared reading about your Yosi's cooking the carbon resin out so fast. Took such a small amount to fill I realized I just wasted everybody's time. That's why I plan to run them 15K this time before I send them back to be re-packed.

My apologies if I riled you up Philhnnss but always better safe than sorry. Yoshi calls for 5000 mile change of the packing on my C/F cans and I Installed the cans at 3600 miles with 10,800 on the clock now so I'm over due about 2000 miles. I've been monitoring the can temperature, after a hard run when new, the rear of the cans were just warm to the touch. Now their much warmer, not hot mind you, I can still lay my hands on and leave 'em there but I think it's getting close to time. I'm not sure what Yoshi uses, I'll find that out when I open em up. I guess I'll go with the SilentSport packing, even Hub sounds like he's sold on the stuff. Pssst, don't tell Hub but Ivan recommends the SilentSport packing, says it improves the function of his 270 ohm locker or sumthin.

I've got a Hindle meg,every one likes me behind them,buts thats OK gives me the op to drop back then catch up.But I do need to repack.My pipe uses SS wool then glass wrap about 3/8 "thick wrapped in a spiral around the SS wool
