Double Stacked Gen Mar Risers
08/18/13 9:52 PM

After a lot of searching on this website and all over Google I decided to give this a try. It actually worked quit well. I unbolted the front brake hose junction and it gave me plenty of slack to get the risers in place. Then I just fabricated a straight little bracket and remounted the junction. On the brake side I had to bend the brake reservoir bracket just a little to get clearance for the brake reservoir. I also had to rotate the throttle housing. I just loosened it up and rotated it to get clearance. I did reroute the cables slightly and adjusted them a little to get them just right. On the clutch side I only had to ever so slightly rotate the whole thing to get complete clearance for the lever. Did a 500 + mile day 3 weeks ago, a 300 mile day last week and a 250 mile day yesterday. Works great. No issues. Very comfy for my 60 year old bod.

Also had to get 4 90mm long bolts from Fastenal. They where $1.11 a piece.

They look good too!
Well done.
I have risers too, my friend AJS recommended them. A great investment for certain!

it looks good but how about when you really get on it can you keep the front end on the ground? I don't even have risers on mine and its all I can do to keep the front end down.

60 yr old bod...;)I know the feeling! They look good on there...it's a good mod for sure.I went with Helis and Gens together...worked fine. After riding with em like that for a while,I wanted to go back to the 'full sportbike' configuration(just to see the difference).I found the factory setup to be 'better' for carving and actually felt very comfortable without risers(for me)...but whatever feels right to ya...ya gotta go with it;)I did like the feel of being a bit more upright...but after readjusting my riding with the factory deal...it became actually more comfortable...if that's possible.

I think a lot of guys(who haven't ridden a 14R)think it's the same layout as the Gen 1's.It's not.It 'looks' almost the same...but it's not.I could tell right off that the tank and frame configuration felt different.I thought I'd be a bit uncomfortable initially with it...but I found the stock config was really very good(for me).Even changing windscreens I could tell the shift in handling at speed. This bike has lots of changeability to it...one thing that makes it so cool;)

I decided to go stock because the loft factor is so immediate and easy.I didn't want to be sitting more upright. But everyone rides their own way...so it's all good.Good job on those Gens...I didn't know TWO sets would fit...good to know.

Great write up Buka !!! I have short arms and the double risers would help a lot. Thanks for all the info. By any chance would you have the Fastenal part number for the bolts??? My local Fastenal dealer is retarded. Thanks again !!!

Buka: Would you post or describe the bracket you made for the brake hose junction? I am all done and temporarily zip tied the cables until I figure out the bracket. Thanks for the help !!!

I just used an old straight bracket I had in my garage. I cut it to length. It already had holes in it. I bolted one end to the hole that the junction was originally bolted to. I then just bolted the other end to the junction block. I did not try to force it to go anywhere. I just attached it where it had repositioned itself after I was all done bolting down everything above. Turned the front end from lock to lock to check for clearance and had to bend the bracket just slightly to clear. Rode around 1000 miles since installing. No problems just more comfort.
