Anyone ever change these out for a better color? They only were on the 2006 model, and have not been on since! I think they are ugly, but, there's something to be said for keeping it original?

Too Late! Once you tear it all down, it is no loner original. The less you tamper with it, the more value down the road. The black '06 will rep a new level in bike evolution. An instant collectable, no? Way down the road that is. The black with gold wheels is the bike to chase. The other colors clash. They will not demand the more black look, IMO.
You better find the original tires that came with it, meaning, the pattern that matches the brochure. Even the battery, I'll snag year ass you bring that pile forward. Other than that, it's a parts bike to restore the other less fucked [Donny] with.
Fuckedwidth = Squid Moves. That wasn't Donnyboy, that was Me!; if you want to point a finger dicking with this part and do width this parts is parts. I can put it back together by the book, but you can't touch anything on it, repaint it, touch it up, move this, loose that = JUNK find.
Find one in a box and save it for 40 years, maybe you'll get half back or break even if you're lucky. Slow ass bike is for someone like you, Donny. LOL

I have a set of, what appears to be gold, bronze, or UPS brown rims on my black 06. At first, I didn't like them, but now they have grown on me. As with all things, I would like chrome, but with the chain oil, and road dust, they would look bad. With the bronze rims, they are not too bad when dirty, and still look pretty good when clean, and it matches the break caliber.

I like my UPS bronze rims, they look classy IMHO and as mentioned, hide dirt well!

I have too many things to do with my work and shop to mess with the perfectly fine UPS brown shit colored rims. I agree with the Hub Pud Puller that messing with a stock machine decreases the value; glad the only thing I've done is handlebar risers, ZX10 pegs, larger rear/smaller front sprocket, ZX10 front fender, footpeg lowering devices, Radiator guard, PCIII, K&N filter. :)

I'd definitely keep them Donny, About the only thing I like to change out is the exhaust and fender eliminator. Oh yea, I also pull off those goofy DOT reflectors.
