So after my little "incident" last week I've been really considering a nice '13 model with ABS. I would really feel a lot more comfortable with this bike if it had ABS on it. So much rain and way to many idiots around Florida to be without it. I really thought mine had it when I bought it because I saw the sensors on the rims not realizing they were for the traction control. I should have done my homework a little better. Oh well.
Even so I'm looking at the arctic white '13 with ABS and damn do I love white motorcycles and the bike looks just fantastic in white, especially with the grill inserts in black. I'm thinking put some white rim tape on the black rims and it would be stunning.
The shop that's doing the repairs on kermit right now is willing to give me a bit over current trade value for mine even though it's wrecked (helps they are doing all the repair work and the bike will basically be brand new again). They are also willing to move all my parts over to the new bike for free (exhaust, seat, windscreen, risers, pegs, all of it) and are giving me a $2600 discount of there ABS model. I'm going to lose a bit (as expected) on the trade in of course being depreciation the way it is these days but for the piece of mind of having ABS it's worth it. My buddy said it best "it's cheaper than just 1 day in the hospital". So true. Anyway OTD price would be a bit high, $18k OTD with my trade, negative equity and all discounts. The bike retails for basically $16k so it's like walking it and buying it at full MSRP (OTD for anyone else there would be about $17,800) so really not bad. And they are going to do all the work for me to move stuff free (several hours of labor, including installing Yosh sliders and swingarm spools).
What do you guys think? Give up the Green for Arctic White and pick up ABS? I'm working on them now for a better interest rate and that's really the only think holding the deal up. I fell if they get the rate right I'm gonna go for it, if the rate sucks though I'm still very happy to keep Kermit awhile longer and wait for them to put it back together.
Thoughts?
