I had a new rear tire put on and felt like the it was bouncing up and down, so I put it up on rear stand and the sure enough the tire has a high spot, if this has happened to anyone here was it a defective tire or just mounted wrong? im taking it back to my dealer tomorrow and they said they will replace it if needed,

"tire has a high spot"...bead look okay?...if so....tire's bad...sheesh...never heard of this before.Any pics?

actually the bead doesn't look even on the rim, one spot is lower than the rest of the tire, that's why I was wondering if maybe it wasn't mounted right I didn't even think that was possible, I ve never seen that happen in my 28 years of riding. I didn't take any pics would really be hard to see anything, thanks

I guess your dealer didn't even balance it? Stuff like that burns my ass, give em hell when you get there.

it has wheel weights on the rim and I know they are new becase I had to peel off the goo from the old ones, you would thing he would have noticed it when he balanced it that it wasn't perfectly round, oh well

I don't think balancing matters a whole lot for motorcycles. I will alaways do it but I have been told it will not make handling any better but improves tire life.

this sounds like a defective tire. Take it back. Free replacement and install....I'd ask for some free oil too. ..or bike polish or something. Tell them you almost crashed.

Put in 60/70 pounds of pressure. Take the back wheel off the ground, find 6th gear and hammer the throttle. The centrifugal force will pop the bead out. Minor mounting by said novice nimrods.

Balance weights make a massive difference. I tried track racing with a unbalanced tire once and it felts like the final drive bearing had collapsed when going over 100.

If its not on the bead then it can be balanced but not round. When its back on the bead the balance wont be correct afterwards.

To re bead you will need take all the air out and work more of the bead inside the rim than it has already and add some dishwash liquid and water around the bead or tire lub then blow it up again until it pops onto the bead again. Then it will need balanced again. A shot of 50 pounds may pop it on but you really need some lube on the rim to help out.

well took it to my dealer today and they said it was a defective tire and replaced with new one and now it rolls perfect, they said they have never seen a tire do that,

Doesn't mater if tire was faulty or not it shouldn't have left a bike shop not on the bead correctly.
Im picking tire wasn't the problem. Install was the problem and bike shop wont admit it.
Did they say they road tested the new tire and gave you the same one back again?
Did you watch the new tire go on the rim 2nd time around?
If you did get a new tire your old one will be on another bike.

Yes i actually seen them take the one off and put new one on then i looked at the old one. To see if i could see anything wrong with it but i couldnt it looked normal. All i care is they made it right and i didnt have to argue or anything. They lifted the bike spun tire and said your right we will put a new one on. Cant ask for better service than that. They are a very reputible dealer
