Absolutely. The problem with the off the shelf seats is the inconsistencies in the pan. They don't fit the body work properly. Each custom shop has their standard shaved seat. Unless you are local to a shop and can stop by and have them tweak it to you, your more or less going to get the standard cuts. + or - padding.
You can always take off the cover and shape the initial contour yourself, then have it re upholstered.
My seat is a drag/racing setup. The padding from the seating area, was relocated to the area behind your butt to build a hump to keep from sliding out the back.
It feels infinitely better than the stocker. Long rides took a little bit getting used to.
If anyone is local to me and wants to stop by and try my seat on their bike, I'd be willing to do that to help you get an idea. I'd also be willing to loan you my stock seat until yours gets back from the upholsterer.
