rider size (height & weight)
10/22/10 4:12 PM

I am on the market for a sport bike with a new zx14 at the top of my list. Does the zx14 accommodate taller riders for longer rides. I'm 6'4" 236 and feel comfortable sitting on the machine. Any other similarly sized owners? I love my v-twin cruiser but want to cover all bases, hence am getting a sportbike.

Thanks for your input,
Joe

Your Video..

Can't help you with your sizing though. I'm a coupla inches shorter, and don't have a 14 yet either.

The Vulcans are great bikes. Loved my father's Drifter that was a cruiser if ever there was one. Sweet.

I'm 6'2" and 200 or less. The 14 was my first sportbike. Had a stiff neck while riding for the first few weeks but damn, was it ever worth it! First two hour ride I took I had some sore hamstrings. After a few months---it's totally natural. I like to get off the bike every couple hours and walk a bit but no aches or pains.

6'5" 230 here. In stock form the bike is great for short trips (0-200 miles). After that I start get fatigued in my wrists and arse... I've got a second seat off a Concours for my long trips (200 plus) and a set of LSL risers.

I love the hell out of my bike!

I'm only 5'9 and just under 180 but I have a longer than average reach and she fits me well...I do have helibar risers, fwiw. Your inseam is going to be quite longer so you might want to consider dropped pegs so you don't feel cramped.

I'm 6'3" and 280, but like bahnzii said people have different inseam and reach. The 14 is pretty easy to mod to fit about anyone. Get a different seat (taller), and work from there. My legs are fine with a connie seat, and a sargent seat. The stock seat is horrible IMO. I thew on some bar risers, but I might take them off to ease up on my back.

Before your criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and have their shoes.

I'm 6'2" 238(with out gear)and find the 14 Easy on the back, sweet in fact compared to the cruisers(no back bone compression on the bumps). My only complaint for long hauls would also have to be the seat, as stated above. She has a 200 mile limit lol 4 me anyway. With leathers on I sometimes wish I could lower the pegs. For what the 14 is, she's comfy.

Good assessment, Rom. The busa is so similar to the 14 but there is a difference in back fatigue when riding upright with arms straight. I get a twinge in the low back relatively soon on the busa. The riding positions do not feel all that much different just sitting on the bikes. They seem to matter a little bit as far as comfort, though. I'm sure you can mod either the 14 or busa with risers a/o pegs to feel comfy to bigger guys. I'm pretty happy with stock ride position. In fact, I would love to get some rear sets and make the position a bit more aggressive.

I'm 6'3" and 280 give or take. I have a custom seat on my 14 that takes the roundness out of the seat and makes it more flat in the belly of the seat, which gives me more seat otherwise stock setting as far as the seat position is concerned. I think after 200 miles of riding no matter what bike you have you are going to need a gas/pee break in there somewhere. I have many bikes I like this one the best.

I looked at the rear sets. I'm not sure how fast it is to flip back and forth. Would be great if it was Quick. You know, the best of both worlds.

6'4" 195lbs , I like my bar risers, haven't taken a ride longer ten 200 miles in a day yet but my butt does get sore or more actually its my thighs that get sore. Seat is not as comfortable as my Harley but I like leaning into the wind better then the upright seating and no fairing on my hog.
