Fairing Kit opinions?
10/05/14 3:41 PM

Just bought a used 14 recently and although it seems there are nice upgrades underneath the plastic, cosmetically there is some obvious wear. I was wondering if any one has has any recent experience with one of the online "fairing kits?"

Yes I have used to search button, however all the info seems to be a year or more old.

Thank you in advance.

I've only heard people say they were going to try aftermarket fairings. Never heard anyone come back to tell how great they were. I was advised to stick with OEM for my busa. Aftermarket might just bloww off the bike at 80 mph. Buy new. Don't buy used off of Ebay unless you are sure they are in good shape. I came very close to buying aftermarket fairings being sold as new OEM off Ebay. Recognized the kanji sticker was different at the last minute. The guy said he took them off a busa (which obviously means they weren't new). I did hear one guy say he was happy with his aftermarket fairings on the busa forum.

Quality is what I am afraid of with after market fairings. It seems as though there is a common theme with them all which is, they can look good, but will they hold up? I've never really seen any information POST ride. I mean I don't plan on seeing triple digits, but if I do, will I risk being stuck with a naked bike in the middle of the highway? I guess at this point I'll stick with finding some new or better looking OEM pieces. I did a fairly deep cleaning this morning and I'm only really bothered by 2 areas (seat cowl and right lower fairing).

There are some guys on EBAY that actually buy 14's and remove the bodywork and sell as a kit.Course, that's just one of the things they do...they have stores as well.Look up..."cementdrums"(seller) on EBAY...he used to sell kits...OEM.Bought a perfect set off him in 07.Don't know if he's still around...maybe.

If nothing is broken and you have the time, you could rattle can the whole set of fairings over winter. Clear coat and polish and it will be better than new..if you have the time.
