Future Exhaust

Personally not in a rush to change out the exhaust on the new 16/ZX14,aside from the fact the stock is God awful ugly...on previous bikes when you change exhausts a lean condition and poor performance, less torque accompany the change unless you get a tune. It would run like a scalded dog at full throttle but otherwise blow white lean smoke out the tail pipe and have a tendency to fall on it's face ...my question is does a more open exhaust hurt performance as a stand alone change or does it increase H/P, without a tune.

IDK about without a tune. I always had a PCV with some kind of map for my full exhaust. The engine spools up quicker. It did not seem to improve the low end at all but it did not hurt it either.

I may try a zero map with my full exhaust in the near future and I have an AFR gauge on the bike. I'd know how lean my gen1 runs without a tune then.

I lost 38 lbs on the bike when I replaced the exhaust. This does not happen on other bikes. It is very worth it. Also you can run without a tune, it will actually run fat in most places. I dont recommend it but it can be done. I lost nothing anywhere on this bike with a pipe change. More power everywhere. Exponentially more above 6k but I can still take off in 2nd gear with very light throttle. I can verify that the brocks pipe is a work of art and it comes with a perfectly tuned map that is smoother than stock and crazy fast. I got the quiet core and after 2k miles its just perfect for noise.

I put the 14" Oval Delkevic slipons on new 16 ABS SE ZX14, and love them. Sound without baffles is just about perfect. It does have a very slight "gurgle" when I let off the throttle, but runs clean all the way to red-line. I would say that that I did save about the 37 lb. people say. And they look a shitload better than the stock mufflers!

I put Delkevic 17'' tri oval on my ZX last week... so far so good... The sound is pretty quite, (I like)... I left the baffles in. And it took 31.5 lbs of ugly off the bike... Plus the price was right... If I find that I don't like them in a year or two, well I am not into them for that many $$$...

I am happy with my 18" Delkevics. Without baffles, it pops from time to time. With baffles, no popping.

The Brock's power commander full exhaust map still pulls fuel away from the ECU. That alone tells you that simply changing the cans is completely fine. You'll drop around 30lbs off the bike and lean out that pig rich factory AFR. Green light my man.

I had delkevic slip ones first. Then Ivan's ECU flash. Big improvement. Then put Brock's Alien Head 2 with PCV with Brock's street map.. Really a totally different bike. Well worth the money....high quality parts at an EXCELLENT price point for what you get

Hi guys! I'm new to this whole forum thing. But I have read almost all of the posts here and love the good info!!
So, I thank all of you for that!
This post cought my attention.
I have a 2014 14r that I installed Yoshimura slip on's on. Thinking I would have too do a tune on it..
I didn't!! It had even more power especially midrange power!

My bike before was a 2007 ZX-14 that I put two brothers full system on with a juice box.it lost a lot of bottom end and mid range. Although I (stupidity) never did a tune or flash? With the exhaust and controller installed.

the current 14r runs beautifully and the color on the inner exhaust pipe is perfect! I ride 46 miles a day on it. Not a single problem.

Hope this helps.
