When Sean says NOT a newbie friendly ride, take heed. We started out in fog (so thick on the 65 that Greg had to turn back) then got sunny and clear and then back into some fog at the end.
We were a gang of 7. Our leader Sean was up in front most of the day. Followed closely by Chad, Dylan, Michael, Bryan, Axel and Myself who rode sweep all day.
Sean's Amador County rides always start with 75 miles of El Dorado County backroads and we were happy about it.
We took Salmon Falls to Prospectors to 93 to Rock Creek, Mosquito Road, Cedar Ravine, Bucks Bar, Ostram, Hale Ridge, Railroad Flat, to Sheep Ranch.
We were basically a 7 bike congo line on a fun fast pace just playing mile after mile.
We rode the smooth fast gravel Fricot City fire road out of Sheep Ranch down the hill to the killer fun paved section on a ridge. Axel and Bryan were so happy to get back onto pavement and then Sean turned us off onto Esmerelda Road which was a rutted and slippery jeep trail that had a few creek crossings as well.
The 3 V stroms were up front with Dylan on his baby ninja in hot pursuit. I don't think anyone had more fun than Dylan. He was hauling ass and laughing all day. There was a long rutted slippery hill climb that had me wondering how much harder this might get. I thought this might turn back the sport bike guys but they just kept following.
I really felt for Michael on his FJR1300 and especially Bryan on his super pretty space ship like Ninja 1400 as it would have been real easy and very expensive to flop on over. They both stayed up.
Axel flopped over once on the wet wooden bridge at Slab Creek and again somewhere on Esmerelda. And as on previous rides, parts of his bike came home in a v strom suitcase and other parts hung off at cracked non OEM angles, but he and that Honda 600 RR just keep charging hard.
Adventure riding at its finest!
Good burgers and beers for lunch and then a high speed run down Murphys Grade to Pool Station, Palomar, Pardee, Stony Creek, Sutter Ione, and more high speed wheelies on Scott Road and home.
This was a solid group, I enjoyed riding with you guys. Thanks to Sean for putting on SCR's best rides, the Chadster so fast and so funny, Dylan cool guy who didn't dump his bike, but knows when to dump a chick, Michael who comes all the way from Vallejo to play with us and motors that big bike around with authority, Bryan who I wish would get a thrasher bike for these rides so I don't have to worry about that pretty white Ninja 14, and Axel who is becoming a regular and gets faster and faster on every ride because his bike gets lighter and lighter on every ride!
