Lost my keys on a trip. both of em!
Does anyone know if i can order a new set from kawasaki without knowing the key code? i thought maybe it might be associated with the vin number so it might be on record somewhere...

Do you still have your master key? The way I understand the manual, if you lose your keys, you have to get a new ECU and keys from Kawasaki. Maybe you can order spares. Keep me posted cause I bent one of mine in the fuel cap and I am scared to use it in case it breaks off.

Do you have your "owner's manual"?Pg. 53-UNLESS,you figured you wouldn't need it? Kawi should have your bike om file-that number(bar code) on front cover(inside) will directly link to YOUR individual dyno test at Kawasaki-perhaps they've linked the key to YOUR motorcycle there as well?

On the wire ring the two keys were originally attached to is a small key code tag, aluminum with laser etched letters.
There is a place in the manual to write that code down on page 51, section "KEY".
This is the 1400C manual, it might be slightly different for other generations.
Since I always read the manual (tm), once I got home it was one of the first things I did, besides deciding where the spare key was going to go.
Anyway, the manual says give your dealer that key code and they can order you a new key.

Hey, privateer, you know they say when all else fails read the manual? Well, you are absolutely correct. I read mine last night. In SA all of the ZX's come with the immobiliser as standard, and that's where the Master key comes in. Easy, order a key from a dealer. Cheers.

I hope he figures out how to get a new key, but omg guys, none of you are smart or good enough you shouldn't have read the manual as soon as you got her home.
I learned decades ago to pay attention. Hmmm why is that tiny little shiny tag on the key ring with laser etched numbers and letters? Must mean something. Open manual, ..... section "KEY"... read.... "write down the key code from the tag the rings are attached to". Check.
Amazing what you learn reading what you are supposed to read. If you don't, don't whine about it.

Teacher, don't be so hard on us kids! Hmmm, what shiny tag? None in SA. Has your bike got an immobiliser? I looked on my keys, also no number. Interesting if I gotta get a new key. Tell you what, am going to phone the dealer and see what he says.

Nope! Wouldn't know where to find it. I phoned the dealer, and he is not sure either. Is checking with Kawasaki SA, but he thinks that they will have the code on record at Kawa SA and they link it to your bikes vin number or id number, and then they code a new key. He will come back to me. What he did say is that with a Suzuki you have to send the ignition switch and the ECU to them and they in turn send it to Suzuki SA who then code a key. Our Kawa dealer is a Suzuki dealer too. So, I am non the wiser yet.

Ok, JESSE1212, heres the scoop. I have ordered a blank key from my dealer. When it arrives from Kawa SA, I have to take my bike in to the dealer with the Red master key and they will code the new key. We have no numbers or anything on our keys. It all works from the Master key. Good luck.
