Gas Tank cap refused to fit
12/27/12 5:43 PM

Bought an aftermarket non-locking gas cap for my 2012 ZX-14R, on advice from folks here (to keep from being "locked out" from filling my tank).

Bought a "generic" from Amazon.com, this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Keyless-Kawasaki-Engraved-Twist-Fueltank/dp/B007FHSCEM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356654910&sr=8-1&keywords=B007FHSCEM%5D

Looks like this:

...but, because the mounting posts are too long, it dont fit :(

Too Long Mounting Posts looks like this:

They should be about 1/2 that length, about even with the rest of the flange.

This is just FYI. I'll see if'n I can find something that will fit. The ad does say 1995-2010. Oh well, I'm a dumb ass...

Got a Dremel, Meb?

Hell, even a bench grinder would do the trick. At least you know what's causing the problem... i think that alone precludes dumbass status.

Acutally, no, I dont have either of those tools... Yet :)

I guess I was expecting drop-in status, and got flustered when *my* expectations were not met.

So, you guys are right, that will be an easy fix.

Thanks!
