For me I don't really want to mod, in fact I've modded enough bikes over the years that I'm getting sick of feeling like wrenches are just extensions of my arms. But at 5000ft up, most bikes are just too slow for me stock. If I don't mod them some for more acceleration, honestly I would get bored and quit riding. My busa is quick enough to keep me interested in riding it, and the turbo 14 is sick fast, a bike I'll own forever. But it would take a VERY strong stock machine to keep me thrilled enough to leave it alone.....although the new 14 does sound like that bike
You can mod a bike without giving up rideability and reliability. My busa has a yoshi pipe with quiet insert, pc, filter, -1/+2 gearing, and calibrated speedohealer, and is as smooth in every way as the stocker. Its almost stock quiet at lower rpms and doesn't sound harsh at all getting on it hard. But it turned what I considered a slug at my elevation into a bike that is fun to ride again. I just did a 120 mile ride through the Sierra's with my wife yesterday, almost all mellow cruising except a couple 150 or so mph runs (which she likes), and the busa performed flawlessly, and still got 41mpg. So smooth she said it was putting her to sleep lol. Same with my 14, for a boosted bike it has stock manners till the boost comes on, and cruises great without being too loud at all. Thats why it was a stage one lower boost street kit only for me. No need for a high-strung, built-engined overpowered hand grenade. Thats not what I needed in a turbo street bike that I don't race. I have a full exhaust on it as well. Even my slammed 1100 isn't too bad, although its one person only and getting some changes I think soon, maybe a new owner? lol.
You can have you're cake and eat it too, you just have to know what you want before you start buying the mods. Brocks pipes are for guys that want serious performance first and foremost. I think sound, smoothness, fuel mileage etc are kinda secondary to the guys who buy brocks. I purposely picked a yoshi R-22 pipe because I got a nice power gain, smooth power throughout, a HUGE weight loss I can REALLY feel, but mostly because its a quiet, pleasant pipe for extended riding, especially with my wife, and looked the best of any pipe I looked at for my red 04LE busa. My 14 turbo kit HAD to have a full exhaust...no way no how was I running dump pipes.
Make good choices on you're mods and you won't have to give up anything
GRN maybe try a quiet insert for your brocks CT before you give up on it completely. You ran those ti-force high mount slip-ons on your blue 07 and said you loved them, and you said they weren't exactly quiet Don't get too picky, there's always a compromise that can be made. Lifes full of ways to compromise to keep yourself happy
