I have heard only good comments about the Scott oiler from 14 owners but that was quite a few years ago. It's not a real popular mod. I hear a lot of people report their chain and sprockets last a very long time doing minimal or no maintenance at all so a special unit to lube the chain is probably not of great value.
The chain should be well lubed at all times and it shouldn't cause a flinging problem, form what I remember. However, it's extra weight and money that could go on a lot more useful stuff. I guess it might be a good add-on if you do a lot of touring with hundreds of miles/day on the bike but for everyday use and sport riding, I'd just do the normal clean and wax every 300-500 miles.
Even if you have an oiler, you'll still want to do regular cleaning if you are doing proper chain maintenance and the cleaning is more work than lubing.
Maybe they will make a Scott Cleaner.
