New tires WHOOP WHOOP
11/10/09 11:57 AM

My new tires came in today, having them spooned on tommorrow. I haven't been able to ride for the past week and it sucks. I'll have to take a fast paced ride tommorrow afternoon and get them scrubbed in from edge to edge.

Where the hell are the smilies when you need them. I need one jumping up and down and pulling his pud.

I just ordered the power 2ct's, caught them on sale through my trackday group. I'll order 2 sets of road 2's in january when they run a sale on them. I love the powers and 2ct's I just don't as many miles as the road 2's.

The good thing with the 2 ct's you'll never run out of tire on the 14, they have more lean angle available than the regular powers.

I just got some Dunlop Qualifiers. $280 for the set, free delivery. I got a 120/70 for the front and 200/50 for the rear tire. I have a theory that the sides of the 200 will get pulled in slightly being mounted on a 6" rim. They're recommended to have a 6.25" rim.
That might pull in the cap profile a little to make it more vertical at the outer edge. What do you think?

Here's one for you Heathen...

^^Sharkey, sounds a lot like what you would get with a 190/55. A slightly more oval shape to the tread surface rather than a circle. It gives you a larger contact patch in corners and makes the bike turn in better.

I think that will result in uneven wear with the middle of the rear tire developing a flat spot sooner.

I think I would agree with mass on the center wear. I have seen alot of peeps running the 200 and like them and get good wear. Like bad stated the 190/55 is just a bit taller profile and provides just a slightly larger contact patch.

And here I thought I was being so innovative. LOL That was the idea...larger contact patch. Didn't think about the 55 profile. Well there's always next time. I tend to change (get new) tires frequently. There's always grooves on mt tires when I remove them. I'll have to post something in a couple thousand miles about how they wear.

I've found eBay to be the cheapest source for tires, especially race rubber.
There's someone right now who's selling brand new Pirelli Supercorsa rears for $100 shipped!!!
Not just a few tires- a few hundred in stock.

My last set of Corsa III for the 750 was $250 shipped from eBay too. Not bad at all!

For the price of hundred bucks, I'd try any tire.

The supersport tires just don't last long enough for me on the big bikes. Changing rear rubber every 2500 miles or less just doesn't work. So far I'm liking the Avon storms alot, stick good and wearing like iron.........my kinda rubber

I just pickup front and rear tires, Michelin power pilots ct2 delivered in Canada in less than 24 hour delivery for $279 CAD. If your in Canada and are looking for tires do a search for Pete's superbike on Google, he has the best prices in Canada by far.
