PC5
04/29/16 12:06 PM

It was on the bike before and dyno tuned then went with the Cblast flash and took all the add on's off. The bike was as smooth as can be but then it was that way before. Seemed like it lost some on top but really felt better on the bottom. No longer pulled the front off the ground but the plus was I could see in front of me. Finally had some time for myself and put the PC5 back on.

WOW - I gots me a new bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's awesome! I have no real experience with flashes but through aall the conversations I've been watching and sometimes participating in, it seems pretty obvious that a flash doesn't render further tuning obsolete. I plan to stick with a PCV whether I flash or not.

Did you use the PCV map you were using before the flash?

Hi Rook, yes it was the same map that was in it when I pulled all the add on's off when the computer came back. Cblast had even said that he thought he could get the mapping close but a PC and dyno in my area would be the way to go. I understood that since Ivan also said the same. I think Cblast may have done a little miscalculation on the mapping. I have the beads on my seat instead buying a new seat and the beads were a lot cheaper but they have a downfall. I did a 100 mph 2nd gear downshift and my butt scooted over the beads and tried to make it onto the passenger portion of a Concourse seat. I totally was unprepared for that and had to wait for the rev limiter to kick in to pull myself back up. Never did that to me before but next time I will be ready.
Honestly I have no idea what all is changed in a flash but the secondary's open immediately when WOT is done. I kinda like that. I had to set the idle up 400 rpm after I put the PC5 back in. Don't remember if I had to set the idle down after the flash.

This is also not saying Cblast is better than Romans it is just who I decided on at that time.

I'm sure all the flashes that address AFR are pretty close to the same thing. All 14 tuners know what AFR # to aim for so a properly tuned map should be in the ballpark for all bikes. you've owned sport bikes longer than I have, lytnin so I'm sure you know your bike but the reason I was asking about the map in your PCV is this: is there any chance your bike might be running lean with a PCV map that is meant to adjust for stock AFRs on top of the flash which has also changed stock fueling? I would guess Cblast's flash subtracted fuel down low and now you have the PCV subtracting more fuel. Lean makes good power but there's a limit to how lean you can go before stuff burns. Might happen before your coolant temp rises enough to give you a warning.

Temp wise it is running cool and map wise until it goes back on a dyno I have no idea how close it is or is not.

It does run pretty good at this moment

You could always do a plug read but a dyno would be the proof. You could go with Autotune and a POD300 too. $600 of DJ stuff but you can tune over and over instead of going to the dyno.

Add-Ons

It was on the bike before and dyno tuned then went with the Cblast flash and took all the add on's off.

I'm sure you are now quickly learning we flashers can't make perfect over the net. One flash for "ALL" will never happen. One fuel map to fit "ALL" will never B perfect for all bikes. Yourself, from the beginning, You followed the old ways and you had more power.

I think Cblast may have done a little miscalculation on the mapping.

You can bank on it. To get your AFR perfect with a generic flash equals impossible, you rolled the dice.

The Problem lies when others try to convince the masses it's possible to make one set up perfect for all.

This is also not saying Cblast is better than Romans it is just who I decided on at that time.

Lytnin the word "better" has caught my attention and I'm by no means offended. You went with who you believed in at the time. I read the hype as did many of you. The want to believe in the magic pill was strong.

about the map in your PCV is this: is there any chance your bike might be running lean with a PCV map that is meant to adjust for stock AFRs on top of the flash which has also changed stock fueling? I would guess Cblast's flash subtracted fuel down low and now you have the PCV subtracting more fuel. Lean makes good power but there's a limit to how lean you can go before stuff burns.

Lythin I jumped into this thread to post what Rook has just warned you of.

Ltyhin you had a custom PCV tune made using "your bike" "your fuel" "Your Elevation" with that days AR. Sweeet.

Now you have a fully moded ECU running in front of your piggyback fuel controller that is running that custom fuel map ??? This is not good. Now I have no idea what your AFR #'s are but I'm sure they are wrong.

I hope this post helps you in some way. Cheers.

Hi Romans, I am sure it is off since the last dyno tune I have added a full Leo Vince. When it was tuned there was a stock header with a right side slip on only plus a TRE and plus 2 degrees extra on an adjustable plate. It laid down a steady 180. I did put the silencer in the Leo so the neighbors would be happier at 5:30 am when I am leaving for work.
Usually a lean will fly on bottom and peter out a little on top. Usually the peter out is before redline and easily felt. Right now this thing never quits pulling and that is what I am going by. One has to remember I tune carbs and not FI so I can only go by butt dyno as I would with carbs.
I don't know why others went with Cblast but I always like to try something different. I am an Ivan fan but he does not flash G1 and I cannot afford to try everyones flash to see what I like best.

Take care people
