Bar risers
04/14/14 8:47 PM

Guys like I did with my Vmax parts I machined, I am thinking of machining a set of bar risers that are solid one piece replacements. Not the riser only, but a solid handle bar with riser built in. If I am machining one set, I usually machine out a few sets to make my time worth it for sake of development and fixturing.

My thoughts are

1 taller and farther back ( slightly ) so you will be sitting up higher and straighter.
2 Straighten the bars slightly as well.
3 Adjust bars? I am not sure, but something that maybe you could have 2 choices for reach.

If you were thinking of a set of custom risers, what would you guys want to see incorporated?

I am not going into business making these, just want to get that out of the way. But I always machine parts and machine extras as just in case, or just because.

I have a full cnc shop, ceramic and powder coating abilities, Chrome plating, laser engraving and more. So when I build something, I build something!
I made these for my ZX. Not sure if I ll use them or not. But they are waiting on coating, as I am not sure if I am going to anodize them or powder coat them. If I anodize they will be Mil Spec Hard Coat anodized ( type 3 ), which is something I don't currently do in house.

This is what I do for a living.... build custom guns.

So let me know what you guys think you would like to see and why. Maybe it will help me design something new.

Todd

I have the genmar spacers = 1" up and 5/8 back. So far they are a decent upgrade, but I would like to do a full replacement; aka LSL Speigler. The only reason I haven't is cost. Need to save up some pennies.

I'm thinking 4" up and 1-2" back would be perfect. I'm not sure(atm) what measurements they get with the kit. Its not listed on the website. Pretty sure its close to that. I'll read up again and find out. Grn14 has them on his 14r.

If you can do anything close to what they get out of that kit for less (no brakelines needed); I'd want a set.

EDIT, Apex makes something I haven't read much about yet. Ill have to check those out as well.

I have the 1 inch risers and they are nice but yes up and back more would be great BUT will the stock cables reach? I was also thinkinh about the conversion but the cost is just silly. but for a unique piece? maybe. i think i only need about another inch or two up and maybe back on whats there, i do not know if this will hit anything again though.

Peace and Love Ron

Thats exactly what I was thinking. If I only had another inch up and slightly back....hence the idea to make my own.

I think another 1 inch up shouldn't be a problem for cables. I ll mock something up and see what happens.

Looks like Glock slides. Awesome!

I have been curious about bar riders, but have concerns about cable lengths and bodywork clearances.
