Hi guys,

I own a 2012 ZX-14 and maybe I'm a little biased but it is the best bike on the road. I've owned it for a little over a year now. My previous bikes are FZ8, ZR7, YZF600 and GPX250. It seems like I swap between Kawasaki and Yamaha. I moderate another forum for the FZ8 so my forum surfing time is limited which is why I haven't joined sooner.

I've done a few drag strip runs and the fastest I've got is 11.043. Yes I can't launch for shit but slowly getting it sorted out.

Welcome Fazed. I know what you're saying about launching. Been practicing a little myself lately. This bike's so powerful it's much more difficult to get off the line effectively than my VF1000F was.

At any rate, agreed riding this bike is a blast!

Hi Fazed. The Gen 1 was suppposedly an easy bike to launch. That's not something I work on much because I don't want to be changing clutch plates prematurely. But the last time I did it with my geared down 08, I ended up in a wheelie within 15 feet. I can still take off quicker with less clutch slipping than just about anything on the street and that's good enough for me.

Hey Faz, welcome to the chaos. We like rippin' subs and pee poles. I'd like to head over that site you're on and you know, be myself.

This bike's so powerful it's much more difficult to get off the line effectively than my VF1000F was.

Either You have an instant knack for the lever, or you are one of them there 16 in line to eliminate we all line up with the same bike. "much more difficult" is the head game says you ain't got it.

Hi Fazed. The Gen 1 was supposedly an easy bike to launch. That's not something I work on much because I don't want to be changing clutch plates prematurely. Yeah that's pretty much how I figure it Rook. I'm more into curves than drag racing, also not into burning up clutches. I know from experience with my prior bike every street rider faces these same issues launching their bikes, no one I've ever seen has been fantastic at it. As much as every street rider likes to think they'd run the 1320 in the same times magazines test very few street riders are capable of it, probably within 1/2-3/4 second.

Cool 14r. I can see almost all of it. If you use Photobucket, there's a way to choose a smaller format.

Belated welcome FAZED. If/when you need advice or guidance to do work on the bike yourself then look no further than ROOK and HUB. Between them they have more knowledge than any stealer I know and it is all free! Much is changing in the bike world but for me the 14 still stands head and shoulders above pocket rockets and McGregor wannabes. Enjoy what surely must be the best 14 site there is. Only MHO of course.

They closed the local strip around here. Pretty pissed about it too.
I still use every stoplight as a tree, any chance I get.
Move outta the way, Ladies. Daddy's commin' through.

What exhaust is on there? Looks like a Muzzy full single sided?

What did you do for AFR (PCV, ecu flash, nothing)?

My exhaust are made by Hawk. They are dual pipes and that is the titanium version.

No ECU or fuel mods yet. The only things I've done is added heated hand grips, a ZG DB screen, 1 inch bar risers, a USB charging outlet and the ventura bag rack.
