Quick question guys, my buddy and I are planning on renting a trailer to tow our bikes south for a trip in a few weeks. I have the 14 and he has a zx9. How wide of a trailer do you think we need? Im not in town right now to measure them or anything. Uhaul has an enclosed 5x8 and Im trying to figure out if thats wide enough...

I would say not side by side. I know the 14 is close to 7ft long by itself. If you get them staggered, maybe. Maybe put one in front first, the other rear first so handle bars clear.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, one facing each way. I can get a longer trailer, but they are either 5' wide or 6' but the bigger one is a little big to tow behind a blazer.

I have a 5 by 8 and you would be better off getting the 6ft wide one!

U-haul also has a utility trailer that would probably work.Might want to make a tie down bar that holds the 14 on top of the triple tree threw the center. That's what I did for mine.

Hmmm Im trying to picture what you mean with the tie down bar. And it has to be big enough for 2 bikes. I saw the utility trailer but we are trying to find an enclosed one to keep them out of the elements. I will probably go with the 6x12.

soldier,

Get home safe, brother!

If I were you, I'd get a Baxley wheel chock or a Condor wheel chock to use inside the trailer. I'm sure the tie down points inside the trailer will be far from ideal for motorcycles and probably not in the correct place to properly tie down your bikes. Just a thought. I'd got with a 6X10 for size.

BTW, I came home from Iraq in Dec 2005 and did not take a bike down south to ride on my 45 days of leave. I regretted it. When I came home from Afghanistan in Dec 2008, I trucked my Harley to Charlotte, NC, then rode to Los Angeles and San Fran, CA and back - all during the months of DEC and JAN. I loved it.

Whatever you do, find a way to get down south and ride. Have fun!

from experience go with the 6x8 trailer... if you need enclosed then go for the 6x12 enclosed... a blazer will definitely be able to pull either one, I've pulled my 14, a SlowaBusa, and a 6F4i on a 4x8 trailer(at different times of course) with my VW Passat 1.8T fwd.... good luck!
