I don't think this forum currently has the capability or a section to address the following but if it does please point me in the right direction.

1. I was reading a post recently where some of the New York guys were getting trying to get some rides set up together and was thinking that it sure would be nice to have a centralized place on the forum where I could find out which member is in my area. I know that we can scour the forums for posts and see who is from where but there is no somewhat easy way to find that out. Any suggestions.

2. I love looking at the Picture section and the pictures at the top as it give me ideas for my 14. As I understand it BGordon takes pictures submitted by members to make the banner. Can those pictures be retained in their original size so they can be viewed in more detail? I recently came across http://www.bikepics.com and thought this might be a good place to put them if there is not enough storage on the site to do it. Thoughts anyone?

Re #1: It would probably be possible to set up a Google map with pointers for each member who has entered a location, but I wonder if that would be worthwhile, because very few members have set up their locations. As of now, we have 418 members who have put SOMETHING in for their location (which may or may not be a city, state that could be used for a map pointer), and 4,769 members who have not. So only a small fraction of the membership would show up on such a map.

Re #2: This is a great idea and has been suggested before. Problem is that many of the photos you see in the top banner don't have associated images that are much larger. I just grabbed them where I could find them. Some of the originals are almost as small as the images you see now. Maybe we could set up an area where people could upload photos (for consideration for use in the top photo bar) and put in some information about the photos, and make the idea work. So if you clicked on the photo, a larger photo with the description would open up. Storage is not a particular problem at this time.

BG...thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Definitely get what you are saying on #1 and #2. Your suggestion for #2 sounds like it would work great. Don't you already have a sticky in Pictures section? I know that there are photos there already but not all of them. Could be as simple as communicating to members..."Put your pictures here and BG will consider them for inclusion into the banner".
