Got to the track with my baby
08/20/11 4:37 AM

Well I just got back from going to two great track days in NH with Tony’s Track Days….Man I have to tell you it was the best! I have done many track days in my cars but never on the bike. Well the bike was way better! Tony’s is a great deal and I had more track time than I needed. Got 95 miles on the track the first day. Guy’s thought I was nuts because I rode my bike there 240 miles then did two track days and rode home! I can’t see any other way to do it?? But I have to say I had a guy adjust the suspension and re valve the front end and what a world of difference. 30 guys in my group many 1198’s and I got passed once in two days. This bike truly can do it all…..If you ever get the chance do a track day. Never worrying about looking in your mirror seeing if a cop is chasing you or worry about pissing off someone cuz you’re riding too fast or its too loud…..

Works just fine. "course, I'd rather have a trailer. It would suck to ride 240 miles home on a Sunday night if it rained. But if a trailer isn't something that is practical right now, any way you get your bike to the track is good.

Actually, some of the things I used to consider exciting on the street are just sorta mediocre exciting now. I was never insane enough on the street to try to do what I consider my most sever track riding.....at least I would say I would never ride all out on the street for more than maybe 30 seconds at a time. You have 15 minutes/session at the track and that's just fine.

About to do my first track day in Oct at VIR. Not taking the 14 but my 09 R6, This is something I've been trying to do for a long time. I heard that it is quite addictive. Just got back from Tail of the dragon on my 14 awesome time, 14 handled great but I know my R6 would have ate the dragon alive, or had me on a stretcher lol.

I rode the Dragon last year from CT it was a great trip like 2400 miles in 5 days great road. Best thing is the banked turns and elavation changes...I rode it just aboutas fast as I could and it was a great ride! I'm thinking riding anything but the 14 for that amount of time would be a paine in the ass for real......lol

Yeah you got a looooong way to get there. About 500 mi. from Virginia Beach VA. Did you ride the Cherohola sky way while you were there? It's 40+ mi. of fast sweepers road was pretty much empty when I was there. Rode it on a Monday think I passed 10 cars the whole time weekends are packed on the dragon tooo many harleys and cruisers slowing you down. Love it when they try to stay in front of you and not let you pass, sparks flying everywhere crossing the double yellows, till they can't take it anymore and wave you past lol.

HAHAHA YEah for sure! Yeah we did ride that road also and then 215 I think it was which was real good. Elavation was great and road was way fast! I've never rode so fast for so long as we did on that road. It was a thurday and never saw one car..... It was awesome! When we headed down to the Dragon we left at 3:30am and rode till 7:30 at night and got to NC 780 miles in one shot.... Now that was a long ride :)

Hmmm... I see this thread too late.

Loudon is my closest track but I don't ride with Tony as his passing restrictions and mostly "street riders looking to go
fast" crowd doesn't appeal much to me.
I rage with BostonMoto in expert group and run 1.20s all day, trying to get into the teens, some of these white plates blow me off the track running low teens.

I'm the bike (gsxr 750) nearest to the cam going through the Bowl

And this is my truck and trailer (black Tundra), feel free to stop by and say Hi in the pits if you see me

My 2 closest tracks are Barber motor sports a Talledega. Tally is fun but it doesn't have alot of elevation change, Barber is the shit though as far as tracks go it'll spoil you. It's a real technical track with alot of elevation change and blind corners. If you ever get the chance to hit Barber you won't be dissapointed.

Awesome! Track days are so fun. I raced for 15 years with the AFM on a TZR250, haven't taken the 14 out yet, did one day with my ZX10R,(with warped brakes, can you say "Brake boinggggggg?) It definitely helps mellow you out for the street. You simply CANNOT ride as hard on the street unless you want to visit the emergency room.

...or end up in a game of chase most of us would rather avoid.

I hope to show pics of Road America if I can get out there this year.

Really, looking forward to my first track day, my R6 should do well. If I keep it shiney side up lol. The track I'm going to run is short and a lot of curves won't get out of second gear I heard (patriot course at VIR). The next day is the north course were the have a pretty long straight hoping to see what the 6 can do maxing out 6th gear. Hoping this doesnt get to addictive last thing I need is something else to throw money at.

Well, I got tempted by the nice weather and rode with TTD today...

Who was on the black 14 in one of the slow groups? I guess it looked like a gen 1 bike but I'm not sure.
