Hey guys, have spent last couple weeks reading literally thousands of your guys posts and decided to join the forum. I have enjoyed reading your posts and have learned quite a bit thanks especially to guys like Rook, Wolfman, Grn14, and HUB thanks for your contributions to this forum. I am new to the bike seen, I bought my first motorcycle last July and I started with a pearl white ZX14r. After I signed all the paperwork the salesman asked if he should pull it out of the showroom or if I wanted to I said he should since I had never rode before he laughed it off. When we got outside he asked if I had any ?s I said ya where is neutral in the gears because I didn't know how it was between 1st and 2nd he got real serious and said you really haven't rode before, do you know what you just purchased? I said I can learn on a little bike or a big bike still have to learn,he said no offense but I'm going in the back when you pull out I don't want to watch (cause I was riding it home). I proceeded to ride home 48 miles with the biggest smile on my face that I have ever has it was everything I hoped for. i put 2500 miles on it last summer and would have done more but hurt my back at work will be ready to ride in spring. I have wanted a bike for 5 years and it was the 14 from day one.
I plan on doing reasonable amount of mods to bike. It is up for worst winter we have seen in decades right now but before it comes back out I plan on installing Brocks alien head 2 single sided exhaust my wife got me for my bday as well as fender eliminator and some powdercoating (white wheels, peg mounts and heel guards). My moto has always been go big or go home as clishe as that is.
Again as a newbie not only to the forum but also the life I can't thank you guys enough for your posts they do help with the exception of mark53 jk.

After I signed all the paperwork the salesman asked if he should pull it out of the showroom or if I wanted to I said he should since I had never rode before he laughed it off.

I learned on the 14 also. I did own a very small 100 cc enduro back in my early adolescent years and then I rode my fathers large cruisers when I visited the family after college. Then Dad gave me his Vulcan 900 which I rode for a year. Another 8 years went by and I went straight to the 14. There were a few scary moments. It's common sense to be careful with the straightline acceleration, top speed and the brakes, all of which the 14 is known for. Where I found myself getting in over my head was in turning and low speed maneuvering. Still have to be careful to pay attention there.

Have fun. Keep learning and NEVER think you have it mastered because that's when it will git ya!

Welcome. Enjoy the new bike.
I always wondered why Mr Kawasaki put leaners maps in a Hyperbike.
Take it easy..

Get on it....
