New member thanks Rook, Wolfman, Grn14, and HUB

Hey guys, have spent last couple weeks reading literally thousands of your guys posts and decided to join the forum. I have enjoyed reading your posts and have learned quite a bit thanks especially to guys like Rook, Wolfman, Grn14, and HUB thanks for your contributions to this forum. I am new to the bike seen, I bought my first motorcycle last July and I started with a pearl white ZX14r. After I signed all the paperwork the salesman asked if he should pull it out of the showroom or if I wanted to I said he should since I had never rode before he laughed it off. When we got outside he asked if I had any ?s I said ya where is neutral in the gears because I didn't know how it was between 1st and 2nd he got real serious and said you really haven't rode before, do you know what you just purchased? I said I can learn on a little bike or a big bike still have to learn,he said no offense but I'm going in the back when you pull out I don't want to watch (cause I was riding it home). I proceeded to ride home 48 miles with the biggest smile on my face that I have ever has it was everything I hoped for. i put 2500 miles on it last summer and would have done more but hurt my back at work will be ready to ride in spring. I have wanted a bike for 5 years and it was the 14 from day one.
I plan on doing reasonable amount of mods to bike. It is up for worst winter we have seen in decades right now but before it comes back out I plan on installing Brocks alien head 2 single sided exhaust my wife got me for my bday as well as fender eliminator and some powdercoating (white wheels, peg mounts and heel guards). My moto has always been go big or go home as clishe as that is.
Again as a newbie not only to the forum but also the life I can't thank you guys enough for your posts they do help with the exception of mark53 jk.

Good story! I have a white one too.
Looks like you started out at the top of the food chain.

The 14r is as easy to ride as anything as long as you don't yank it open until you acclimate yourself to it.

When I got my first Ninja, the ZX11 back in 93', we had gone over the bike like Kawasaki requires.
I had been on bikes since I was 9 or so, but I asked the guy, " Are the gears one down and five up, or one up and five down? My wife knew I was messing with him...it was pretty funny.
The guy looked at me like I was fixing to take part in Pickett's charge at Gettysburg!

I think I heard that in places like Japan, you work your way up the displacement range being certified for certain size bikes. You can't be licensed for a big bike until you earn all the merit badges for smaller ones.

Anyway, I'm a bit partial of course, but congrats on your beautiful bike!

Enjoy!!

I bought my first motorcycle last July and I started with a pearl white ZX14r.

hi there colossal. IDK what happened to the response I left yesterday. Guess I forgot to press the REPLY button.

Basically what I said was that I purchased the 14 as my first sportbike. I rode a tiny Yamaha 100 as a kid and I rode a 850 CC cruiser for a summer but the 14 is what I had the longest and have spent the overwhelming majority of my time riding. Take care in cornering and low speed maneuvering. That's where the bike will take you by surprise. The top speed, straightline acceleration and brakes are where the 14 shines so it is more obvious to take care with that.

Welcome both of you!

Colossal, may I suggest an ECU flash as well. Personally have Brock's.

Btw, you have balls the size of Volkswagens to buy that as a first bike :-p

Here is my favorite ZX shirt to ride in LOL, not as big as yours but you get the idea.
