Lifting the front end

Hi guys. I am doing the 2 year steering stem bearing grease job. In the service manual I have to rip the front end right off and it says to use the kawasaki jack to hold up the front end. I dont feel like spending a couple hundred on the jack. I have a bike lift and scissor jack already. Where can i Lift this bike from without putting too much stress on the bottom end. The oil pan occupies only one side of the bike which means the surface area isn't that large. I don't want to put all that weight on such a small area. Any ideas? Thx all

People have supported the Gen1 under the oil pan with a car jack using a piece of wood between to distridute the weight and cushion a little. Never heard of a problem, then again, I don't know how many did that. I never do it because I head an oil pan can bend in so slightly you'd never see it and even that will hurt engine performance. The OEM tool surrounds the outer edge of the oil pan where the bolts are. That area is very strong because you have the side of teh engine case above--like a roof is strongest right above the wall.

Here's what I do. I highly recommend getting teh bikeas close to the wall as you safely can... x 2 if you are using a swingarm spool stand instead of a swingarm pivot stand. Puts a lot of stress on the timbers. You could always put a jack under the oil pan as a back up after hanging under the airbox.
