I dropped my bike the other day and broke the water pump cover and the generator cover , I found both on ebay for a zx14r 2012 but in the photo it says 06 to 12 . Does any one know if these parts are interchangeable ? Any help would be appreciated.

Q. I want to know if engine parts fit my bike. How can I find out?
A. Look up the gasket for the part or cover. If the gasket is the same part number since first gen, then same cover will fit 2nd gen if both gaskets use the same part number, then the gasket o-ring curves with the part, or the paper/metal gasket has the same hole pattern then the cover is the same too.

Q. What happens if they have the same part number for the gasket but the cover has a different part number.
A. This might be a paint color difference as in a charcoal vs. flat black and that might mean two changes in color code numbers but it's cast as the same part.

Thank you for your reply, the gasket for the gen cover is the same but the part number is different ( I thought all motor parts were black) and they don't give a gasket number for the pump as they only sell the whole pump. I can,t see any reason for a difference in these parts but want to be sure before buying . I also want to say I am sorry ,should have posted in Q&A .

hope you are not injured too much, OF. sounds like a bit more than a sidestand foldback. Oh how familiar is the pain to see the bike laying belly up. I never start a bike without sitting on it and I always park it in 1st with the motor rolled forward 'till it stops. Always, even if it's just for a minute while I walk back to close the garage. No more chances.

HI Rook, I nothing seriously hurt but my pride. I pulled into the shoulder of the road to tie my loose boot string that had almost maid me drop it on the street (almost couldn't get my foot down at a light) when I started going back on the road gave it to much gas and the rear wheel out ran the front and down I went. I got a couple raspberry on my thigh and a bruised foot and a huge blow to my ego.

Glad you're OK. I thought that 2006 was the FIRST year for the ZX-14. So I'm unclear on your 04 to 12 fittment question. Are you sure you have a 2004??

jwh20 just a typo I never was much of a typist the bike is an 06.

In that case I think you're good to go since the parts are advertised to fit from 06-12. There are some engine changes over the years but I believe the parts you are discussion are identical except perhaps for color.

Sorry about not getting back sooner been working on the bike and looking for parts. The part I ordered off of the 2012 fit fine and look new and i got extra parts I hope I never need.Thanks to everyone for your help.
