It has been a long time since I talked to you guys. You know how I found this site? I did a Google search on 1bad12ZXR! LOL!

I now have a bike again, since an accident totaled my ZX-14.

I walked into the dealership "just to look" at the bikes. I ended up buying a blue 2008 ZX-10R! I made a $7499 offer on a new bike, and they accepted it! Go figure!

I installed a battery tender and spools. I have sliders, but it looks like I need to do some cutting.

I found the Service Manual online.

Next is a smaller front sprocket, looks like a 16T. Then the Speedohealer.

I didn't realize that the ZX-10R had flies. I guess I will be removing them soon. And adding a PC and an exhaust sometime soon.

cost of being famous .. hey you olde squid ..i see you still got the 1 eyed big gap pirate ho .. removal of flies on a zx10 don't matter much and removal of the exhaust valve hurt mid-low end ... but to each his own ..

So what is a ZX14R? Never heard of it! Must be a new model that Kawasaki just came out with.

zx14r is a model that is not for sale to the general public ..

Ya..."not for sale to the general public".....cause no one wants to run 50 yards first to turn the key on!It's right there in the owner's manual.

Was that your OTD price Captain? If so I'm pissed. BTW leave the flies in, the opening rate is correct, get a PowerCommander and an Akropovic Race or Evolution pipe to unleash the midrange and lowend on this beast plus a lot more on top. Ivan has a TRE that plugs in and disables the KIMS traction control which is basically worthless anyway.

Not the OTD price. It is what I offered, they will then add up all the other costs. It is about $4,000 below MSRP, so I can't complain.

Yes on the PC. I am considering Brocks Street Megaphone Exhaust System. They provide maps and good customer service. I am not yet sure about the TRE.

I now get a regular adrenaline rush, wherever I am, just thinking about riding.

You own a ZX-10R? Awesome! What year? What mods have you done? $10K OTD? I paid about that much OTD.

When I was riding my ZX-14, I would always think of getting the "10" as a second bike. I love the power and bench seat for passengers on the 14. The 10 seems to put your passenger in a pre-launch position. I love the light weight and shorter wheelbase on the 10.

Hey Kruz, do you have a good supplier for the Akropovic system? I am not familiar with that product. It looks pricey, but the titanium is tempting. I am in no hurry on which ever product I buy, especially if I can find a good deal.

OK Captain, now I don't feel so bad LOL! Mines a 2008, purchased new back in December of 2009. Below is the last pic I took right after putting the fender eliminator and LED turn signals on there.

I have the titanium/carbon Akropovic Evolution full system still in the box along with a PCIII, TRE009 and Ivan's map.
Like everything Ivan does it's supposed to have extreme driveability, mega low and midrange and outstanding top end. Check out his website for dyno graphs:

I was hoping to get everything on there this next weekend, I've been putting it off until I get the break in finished, now at 700 miles.

Shop around if you go with the Akro, this is a $2000 system but I found a deal at 58 Cycle for $1599.95 delivered to my doorstep. The Akro Race is the exact same pipe only executed in stainless steel and it weighs 3 lbs more, you can save about $400-$500 dollars by going this route.

Good luck with the cancer. That is something that can not be put off. I lost my father and sister to cancer last year.

Here are a couple pics of my bike!

Yesterday, I went on a 240 mile ride from Sacramento to Lake Berryessa, Aetna Springs, Middletown, Clear Lake and back to Sacramento. A pretty good trip. Weather was great. A CHP layed down spike strips to catch a Porche east of Berryessa.

I'm 5'10". The 14 is more comfortable, but I had Heli-bars installed on it. I just started riding the 10, will be awhile to determine comfort. I do prefer to take regular breaks every 100-150 miles to rest. I am considering Heli-bars, but not sure yet.

I was following a gray ZX-14 on this trip, I do miss riding the 14. He could pull away at will, corners or straights. After I get used to the 10, I may be able to challenge him on the corners.

I take it this is the one that got totalled, good you got back on the horse again though.

Captain, twist that little black thingie on the right side, you outta be able to easily hang with a 14 everywhere except off the line....you have to rev it though, go zone starts around 8000. In the corners you should be having that big fella for lunch. I run 6 to 7 mph faster in the same corner with the 10 over my 14. Your just not used to the 10 yet, give it some time.

Nothing here got totaled, my 14 was blue. The 14 is the one I was following, belongs to Dudley. One reason to let him take the lead is his Valentine radar detector, he signals me every time he gets a hit.
