8000 miles on my Avon storm rear tire (wears like stone)it is time for some new tread. After reading the tire poll on the forum im going with the michelin pilot road 2ct. Seams like this is the best tire for my riding style.Jake Wilsonhttp://www.jakewilson.com/home.dohas the tires listed for $266 shipped is this a good price for the begining of riding season?Just a married guy trying to save a buck OUCH

Hey Doug, been riding on those PS-2 for long time , I must ride different to you I get nothing like those miles out of them but get good mileage anyway. PS-3 are out now you might try them. But if your on a good thing were you are you might be best to stick to what you know.

Wouldn't like to say you'll do better on the Michelin, that would be a big call

Good luck

PS we pay $520.00 fitted hear for a set

Hi ethin14,Im sure our road tempatures here in washington state have alot to do with tire wear.80 to 90 degree weather during riding season is quite rare!As far as the avon storm i would have stuck with this brand except that the front tire cupped after only 4000 miles.Sounds like the 2ct will allow me to hit the courners a little harder. doug

Yes, the pilot road3 was available from JW but they run somewhere around 65 bones more then the road2.I just dont think one year will make much difference[just my 3 cents].Thanks for your feedback guys im putting in my order tomorrow.

not sayin you dont do this doug but its very important for us all to check air pressures before every ride. low air pressure is probably the biggest reason for a tire to cup. im running the avon storms also and ur right they are wearing like iron, got over 4000 mi on them and still looking new. for me if i get 8000+ mi on a tire i think ill be sticking with them in the future.

Tire pressures can tend to be a grey area for sure.I choose my air pressures by the tire makers suggested pressures along with the feel of the ride to me. I run 36rear 38front. that was about 38/40 after warm up.Not saying in any way
that avon is a bad tire it just failed in the front for me.doug

Doug, I run 40 psi front and rear in the PS-2 except when I go on a long trip I'LL go up to 42 in the rear to carry the extra weight. they seem to hold there shape better and wear better with more air in them and still great grip, wet and dry.
just my 2 cents worth

Thanks ethin14, i`ll try the higher pressures when i have the tires mounted!Im assuming these numbers are when the tires are cold??? Thanks again.
