I have questions for you. Does your bike have a power commander? Or slips ons/full exhaust system? If so odds are she is juiced up, bro. Meaning your bike is running rich with extra fuel. This is not necessarily a means for concern. She has been juiced up for a reason, to make more power and compensate for the freer flowing exhaust. This scenario only comes into play if you have a power commander or similar device installed on your bike. If that is the case and the fumes are bad enough to make your eyes water and you are still concerned about it, then I suggest you take it to a tuner on a dyno who can shove a probe up her butt to read the fuel to air ratio and if necessary make the proper adjustments to the fuel map to make it run right. Also a dirty air filter can and will cause it to run rich!
At 41000 miles I highly recommend you have the valves adjusted, they may or may not be in need of adjustment, but, maintainace is key to a long lasting and reliable machine! If anything have your tb's sync'ed, you will shit how much more crisp and responsive the throttle will be after that is done. My bike has 8000 miles and I recently sync'ed my tb's and about killed myself on a test ride after completing the job!!!! It's a day a night difference after they have been sync'ed!!! Also while you are having that maintainace work done the bike is already tore apart have new spark plugs installed that way they are done and fresh!
