Yes to both things as a major contributing factor, both things may cause combustion that is not complete or is improper. In concert together they probably are the culprit. Excellent place to start. Include air/oil/ filters, spark plugs, oil change, chain adjustment and lube. Then ur baby will scream again sir.

Do you top the tank off past the filler neck?

Is it fuel, oil, coolant, hydraulic type smells? Don't forget a few of the leaks on the 14s, like the valve cover gasket. Check something's not just leaking and burning off on the exhaust. Make sure oil is not overfull and blowing back into the air box.
All I can think of off the top of my head mate.

On my '08 I topped off the tank. Garage got hot. Found gas on the garage floor. Yes I did top the tank over the filler neck. Yes, I removed the recovery tank, thus the flow out to the floor, not the canister. So you have to walk back asswords and ask yourself if the bike has a topped off tank, the garage is hot, or lift the gas tank and see if the gas line is leaking?

No, there are no floats to leak or overflow in a fuel injected bike. Only fuel leaks are fuel related o-rings down the path, fuel line ends or middle, or cracked fuel rails. But then again, key on, that is 44 pee yes I would think all over the floor if it was any of those?

Back to heat expansion, excess fuel in tank, recovery tank is venting and will be sucked dry in a few rides, unless the bike is really running bad, the one fuel into the one cylinder can cause a poor running bike for awhile.

Sound like a sound walk to a fume?
