Which way does my 14 look better?
03/26/11 1:20 PM

Hey, mon freres!

This is a view of the 14 I always liked but the original pic has a bunch of extraneous crap that does the bike no justice. I have this high end art machine and software sitting on my table so I thought I would have a go at making a better presentation. Got rid of the garage door background and then I thought, "Why not try to simulate the vinyls I have been planning to add to the double stripe scheme I have going?" So here we are---

I wish I could do more views but really, this isn't too bad of a shot to represent the formans. Go ahead and offer your opinion. I already have 2 fins vinyled so I think I am going to finish it no matter what. The Tsukigi logo is a fat itallic but I grabbed this font just to try ---you get the idea.

As is:

As with white fins:

i like them both but leaning more towards the white would compliment the stripes

If you want honest....I like the white, but not the Tsukigi. I've never liked street bikes with brand names on them. If you don't race with Tsukigi as a sponser, then why advertise? It just looks "poser" to me. But hey, do what YOU like.

I'd lose the "Tsusugi" decal also. The stripes?...hmmmm...not my style for a sweet shiny black bike...but as mentioned....if your like....keep!Gonna look great no matter what. The bold stripes look excellent BTW.The pipe goes great with your blacked out color scheme.

I've always adopted a 'less is best' philosophy when it comes to this sort of thing Rook, The first pic of your bike looks awesome, the accented formans in the 2nd pic look good too and aren't too much in my opinion but I think the 'TSUKIGI' decal doesn't need to be there. I've seen some bikes (and a lot of cars) that they don't know when to stop adding things and they end up looking like a christmas tree in full bloom. But at the end of day it's your ride and your decision.

I like "as is" better. Wow, what a great looking bike. I am in the simplistic camp, no stripes and no lettering.

Thanks for the honest opinion. heheheh, I've been noted for asking opinions and doing the opposite of what everyone tells me i should.hahahaha. Sounds like thr Tsukigi logo is out --nobody likes??? I have updated the artwork with a logo that is pretty close to the real logo . I think it looks better but prolly still not floating you guys's' boat?

I never denied that being a poser was a big part of riding. I actually thought that was about the only kind of riding I would do. Boy, I was wrong but still, there is a fantasy element to this thing.

What ever i decide, It's all just vinyl and it it can be torn off.

I started working on the wheels tonight (the wheels of the art). Looking at that, I think I am going to have to deviate from my policy of only doing mods that preserve the OEM stuff intact. I am going to have to find a powdercoater and get those rims white.

I know some of you guys are wanting to barf ---- I was a flashy dresser in my younger days. Maybe this is an echo from the past.

I kinda agree with this statement Rook, although I've always used the term "It pampers to my testosterone" but at the end of the day as superficial as it may seem I guess the ZX14 pampers to my inner poser that’s always dying to get out.

So I'm going to recind my original comment about 'less is best' you go boy and turn up the volume.

Rook, I like the ceramic Tsukigi!!! Haven't seen that look before. How does she sound??? I like powder coated rims. In your rendition they complement and complete the white fins and racing stripes. So I vote for the last pic WITHOUT the blue and red stickers. Lose the stickers in my opinion.

White fins and white wheels... no Tsukigi decal.

Loose the reflectors, swingarm stickers, and tank bra... JMHO, you axed for it.

I was wondering about the cleaning needs for white rims, bean. The stock silvers can get some dirt on them ans still look pretty OK. White is going to need washing at least every 3 days or it will look like crap. Fortunately, cleaning is one of the many bike related sub-hobbies that I enjoy.

The Cannon lives up to it's name, Snat. It's louder than your short meg was. Kind of freaked me out until I got used to it. Been on the bike for ~15K miles and has been very reliable.

Loose the reflectors, swingarm stickers, and tank bra... JMHO, you axed for it.

Yeah, that was pic was taken in the spring of 2010. The reflectors are gone in real life. --I will have to airbrush them out on the art. The bra--------It's gettin' old but it does a great job of protecting the tank. Maybe I will go ahead and order a MagKnight. --about the same coverage and more high tech looking.

I'm starting to be swayed against the Tsukigi logo as much as i have been wanting to put that on the bike. Personally, I think it is a lot mire tastefully done in the smaller size but maybe I will just be satisfied with having it represented in the artwork-----since this sportbike life is half pretend anyway.

I think white rims on a sportbike looks really clean and fresh, but I had one and you will never keep them clean even for a minute. As soon as you take off your sprockets and brakes will fling junk on them not to mention stuff from the road. Then to get all that black chain lube off you need to use degreasers and with the scrubbing before you know it any gloss in the finish disappears which makes them accumulate dirt even quicker and the flattened finish gets old looking. That's the reality of it. Unless you're the type that only rides the bike for an hour on the weekends and stares at it the rest it'll be a lot of work, IMO. Black is the best way to go for wheels. Even my red wheels are a pain to keep looking good compared to black...

The original photo floats my boat. the whit ejust doen's fit so well. the smaller letters I liek more than the taller ones.
I'm guessin' the white wheels are going to p!$$ you off real soon when there are covered with brake dust and chain lube. eww. Unless of course you are a fastidious cleaner then what the hell, they match the white stripes! :)

Oh my goodness Rook, Wisconsin DMV is probably tracking you down as we speak, hide the bike and deadbolt the garage door, a S.W.A.T. team will be arriving by helicopter any minute...J/K

First picture looks kinda cool, almost a dreamy ethereal look. The white rims look great but like the guys are saying keepin them clean is going to be a lot of work unless you enjoy polishing more than riding. Can you do the white photoshop treatment on the front rim?

The Tsukigi pipe looks sharp but the sticker on the lower fairing, not so much. If you were 17 years old I'd say go for it but since you're not I'd say lose it.

The white fins could blend well with your overall design, especially with the white wheels but I'd need to see them from several different angles before making a call.
