Illegal Sport Riding Motorcycle Gangs
10/11/11 7:23 PM

Think I mentioned on some thread my experience a few months back where some dude in khaki shorts and t shirt whips by me on my right. He was doing close to a hundred which I found a little alarming given the fact that there was more than a little traffic. He didn't slow down at all but lane split through the traffic ahead. Hm. Wow. Next thing I know, another guy came up on my right braking a little this time. His balls were a size or two smaller than #1 but he sailed right through with a little caution. At that point, I decided the best thing to do was to get the hell out of the way in case there were any more. Sure enough, another flew by.

I could see the game they were playing. The guy on point gets busted if the cops can catch him or he leads them off on a chase. Either way, the other guys get away as long as they are not following so close that the cops get behind them as well. They minimize the risk of getting caught by splittingthe diffwerence between several riders. They are trading off the biggest threat to high speed on public roads (traffic cops) for the increased risk of crashing (which is inherent to sport riding anyway). What if 9 or 10 riders got together to do this sort of thing? Even if a helicopter was brought in, the chances of getting caught is reduced by 90%.

Last night talking to my buddy he described something very similar to what I saw earlier in the Summer. Only thing, there seemed to be at least one other party of speed demons behind the first pack of three riders. He said it looked like an organized troop of illegal riders who go together to race from point A to point B. They flew by so fast they scared the crap out of him and his girlfriend. there was nothing and then there was a guy on motorcycle and he was gone. Like popping out of another dimension.

I wouldn't try it.........oooo it sounds like a lot of fun though. I'm too old to get busted for that kind of crap.

They're everywhere around the northern Va,Md,DC area. Police don't even try to stop let alone catch them. I've seen them in action numerous times. You'll see the police every once in a while try to pursue, they'll see the police behind them, tuck, drop a gear or two and disappear over the horizon. Cops turn off their lights and fall into traffic. Helicopters have a hard time keeping up with them. They're nuts 20 years ago maybe now mortality plays a big role in my riding style.

Helicopters have a hard time keeping up with them.

That I find hard to believe. An ordinary traffic copter should be able to do what?....at least 300 mph??? (Kruz?)

if they get low enough, Like they should be able to do anywhere a bike could do high speed for a few minutes straight, They should have no problem keeping on them. Maybe where there is a reasonable amount of vegetation? In any case, if there are roads that fork off, they won't be able to follow but one bike.

.......and when they catch him and offer him a plee bargain(felonious driving down to reckless driving or 50+ over the speed limit), he gonna sing like a canary. You all BUSTED!

....nightime, other traffic, forget it there gone in a sea of lights from the air or the ground.

I call guys who ride like that....assholes.

Yeah, if you see them then obviously they endangered your life as well as their own.

Personally, if I saw a group go by out in the desert or somewhere where there was little to no traffic, and they did have a guy way up ahead riding legally to scout the path for danger and maintaining radio contact, I'd say "RIDE bros!" There is this little part of me that would love to do it. Even though those young squids were a band of little assholes, i really envy them in a way.

They are the magicians of the street. How come it's called a club and how many are still alive and not riding to too many funerals are they?

They need to be left alone. Like you telling a surgeon where to place the knife they are slicing thru traffic like butter in the smooth. No crashes. No clean up, traffic jams kind of riders.

I find some calling them holes of the ass of society better think about the skill it takes to do this shit. Go home to your children, or flow back in traffic meaning. It's not worth your assumption they are in danger like you bunch of pussies....... ShadUP!

I find some calling them holes of the ass of society better think about the skill it takes to do this shit.

It does take a little skill to brake quick and hard enough to avoid T boning an SUV that just pulled out of the Q-Mart, across the median and straight across all 3 lanes to the shoulder and blocking any chance you had of turning around him.

Why do they do such dumb sh!T?? because they think we don't know what we are doing so they try to do something first -- to avoid a crash that would have never been. If you go fast in traffic you have to not only plan where to turn around traffic but also where to go to avoid where they might go as a result of their anticipating your actions. To much for anyone. Best to leave it alone in heavy traffic. one of my little rules of riding is to not go all out in passing. I know I could pass 3-4 cars in very little space but the cages have no clue and someone WILL do something stupid as a result.

Every car they pass is thinking "crazy moron bikers are going to kill someone", and the next thing you know, we're legislated right out of existence, or my insurance for a sportbike goes sky high, or every cop frustrated by them is itching to pull a sportbike over. I don't care how much "skill" is involved, they are hemorrhoids on the ass holes of society.

I was riding one day on my twisties, looked in my mirror and saw a guy coming up fast, so, like a considerate rider that I am, I moved to the right,(we were in a left hand corner) and...WTF??? His buddy goes flying past on my RIGHT! Almost took him,me and the wife all out at once. I was PISSED! If I was solo, I would have chased them down and got in their faces. You want to go fast? Fine! You want to pass me? Fine! But not on my RIGHT in a fucking corner!!!!

I cringe everytime I see one of those high speed vids of guys rollin through traffic.I honestly don't see how rolling the dice like that could be 'fun'?Had to consider some of MY riding behaviors.Been doin that now for a while.I'm fortunate I have a whole state of VERY NICE roads to get away from the traffic on.Guess some guys don't,so they make up for it?IDK.Glad that guy didn't nail ya passin like that.

There is a fine line between excitement and all out fear in what we do. Its fun rolling the dice as long as you know (think) the odds are stacked pretty much in your favor. Getting chased by cops would be too much excitement for me.

I don't care about the bike, I care about her safety. I feel your disappointment. It took a few seconds. No harm no foul. Never to be seen again. I kept posting as if I dropped her off to order two coffees. I'll be right back.

Nope... fastest helicopter in the world runs at about 230ish. Even police copters are gonna be lucky to do 150. Any serious rider on a late model SS bike could walk away from a copter with enough road. Night would definitely help. One thing a copter can do is go up.. see further... so there's that to out run too.

+ 1 on what motocycho said. Even at the TT, they can't keep up with them. I remember them trying to follow MCGuiness when he got on that mountain straight they had to say by by. All out on a good sport bike they can't do doodoo Actually they can have a road block several miles down the road. OUCH!

That is like you going up against Fats Domino the pool player. Think of all the balls. That is like going up against Tiger Woods. How many buckets does he warm up with? And you do that every few months matching his daily bucket time on the swing and Fat is whacking ball, balancing a ham sandwich at the corner pocket?

FFCC! Fat Fucking Chance Charlie!

Sport riders on weekends? Tiger at the tee for hours on end every single day?
