Pilot Leathers Round 2
10/12/11 10:43 AM

Yes, by popular demand this thread is back....LOL! I'm looking at the Pilot one piece suits again but also the new Taichi GP-WRX-302 one piece.

Last episode as some may remember, I went mental and ended up buying a Dainese two piece which I never wear. The jackets fine but I just don't like the pants. They feel like they're going to slide down my butt and onto the floor, almost need a belt or a pair of suspenders with them. Zippering into the jacket doesn't help either as the combo offers no support to the pants.

OK, enough with the history lesson, which of these two suits would you go with? The Pilots are little less expensive but I've bought two of the Taichi jackets and their quality is top shelf, better than Dainese IMHO.

Really like the look of this Taichi suit and the cut looks like it would work for me

I like this Pilot in blue/white

Sentimental favorite in green/white

Yeah, the pants do feel like they are going to drop off and show butt crack Do the ladies like that?? I saw an Australian co made some really nice pants in leather that went up very high on the waist and If I recall, They also had suspenders. That be the way to make a pair of pants. Extra pound and a half of leather but safer and more comfortable. If you are going real fast, you are not ever going to be off the bike walking around. A suit is best for that kind of riding.

Blue black white.

Don't take this the wrong way...I like the contrasty shoulder and knee sliders but as I think about it, I have images of crash test dummy vids run through my mind.

Everyone on the Nesba forum who has rs taichi loves them. No experience riding with them personally. I've tryed them on never rode in them. Alpinestars seems to fit me better. 6'1" 215lbs 48" chest measurement 34" waist. If your built like me the chest and shoulders will fit but the hip, waist area will be a little loose unless you pit in hip protection. 48 chest they expect you to have a 40 waist. Kinda sucks finding a good suit that fits I would try it on before I'd buy though.

I bought two of the Taichi Motion Pro jackets in a Euro size 58 and the fit couldn't be better, 6'2" 220 lbs here. The Dainese jacket and pants were also both a 58, jacket tight across the chest and loose in the waist, pants loose in the waist. You can see about 2" of slack in the back.

Taichi is cut to fit the average Japanese build, tight in the waist and they build a lot of stretch panels in for comfort. I'm going to try on the WRX-302 tomorrow at Motoliberty I'n Dallas. They have a 60 in red, I want a blue in a 58 but it should give me a good idea on fit. I'm going tight this time, the Dainese is too big.

Well that was quick, I went in to MotoLiberty during lunch to try on the WRX-302 and walked out with a size 60
Euro GP-WRX R300 in red/black/white. The GP-WRX R300 was on closeout special and the fit was absolutely skin tight...perfect fit. They put you on a 250 size roadracing bike in the fitting room and you can check out the range of motion in a racing crouch. If you are in the Dallas area, check out MotoLiberty, they have hundreds of suits in all different brands, Dainese and Taichi are the most popular. Here's a pic from Taichi's website, I'll get some more pics of the new suit posted up. I'm sure you guys are going to want to see pics of me wearing it...LOL!

Nice new skinz!

I know what ya mean with the two piece sag, aka poopy butt... Never owned a one piece though. Last time I bought new gear, I took the pants and jacket to my mother in law, who is a professional seamstress, to have her put on a full circumference zipper. Lotsa fitting and still had to choose between poopy butt a full tuck wedgey. lol

This guy found the solution!...

That's got to be comfortable!!!
Spidi wind Pro for me! I've got some room around the waist but at 6'5 I had to go for a 58.

Kruz? How are those Sidi boots working for you? I wore mine at the house and three times on the bike but the left is hard on my big toe!! I'll probably upgrade to the supertech R.

Dogo....that picture you posted...what the mind has seen cannot be unseen. Thanks, I'll go and gouge my eyes out now....LOL!

1bad, the new Taichi was $1082.41 with sales tax. I'll give you a call so you have my phone number again.

Dragking, Sidi Vortex are awesome, mow a year old and I even wear them to the gym. Get lots of funny looks on the treadmill but who cares? I was wearing that pair last May when I wiped out my old 10R. Great protection and very comfortable.

You must be built like a rail at 6'5" in a 58 Euro. I'm a good 3" shorter and the 60 has just the right arm length.
The Taichi is very comfortable, lots of stretch panels.

My daughter just shot some pics with all gear on with her IPhone and I'll post 'em as soon as I can. She commented I look like a Power Ranger..LOL!

I have got the Vertigo, the protection is awesome I hope they'll break in!

lool. At 6'5 - 230 lbs I'm not huge but far from skinny.. think Calvin Johnson the Lions receiver. I have big arms and healthy shoulders but the stretch panels both on my spidi wind pro and Alpinestar gp pro jacket are great. I also picked up the alpinestar undersuit and around 90 degrees it felt great.
