14R vs s1000rr help
06/17/12 12:46 AM

Local guy has a s and wants to run, supposedly has track experience he's about 6'4 250 and I'm 5'10 235. He has akrapovic full system with p.c I am bone stock. What is my chance of beating him, also is there any articles comparing the two bikes and declaring the R the winner?

If you weren't there for my struggles, don't expect to be here for my success.

Run where? Track racing or drag strip? Youtube has a few clips of these two bikes going at it in both Roll ons on the street and drag srip.

I can guess how it would turn out in my case. BMW = looser, lol.

I was just at a bike/car show Sunday. They have a dyno competition every year for bikes.
I took 1st place in the modified metric class, above 2 S1000rr's.

This must be a VERY STINGY dyno. I made 191.79 (previous best when I was tuned was 206.7x).
An s1000rr with full akrapovic made 177.42, and what must have been a stock s1000rr, made 169.5.

It depends on the length of the course
and who has biggest set.
Short course he'll probably take it
come to think of it... if your governor is still intact he'll Win the long course also.

2014 zx14r 195sae HP 520 lbs
2014 Loring AFB 14 runs over 200mph
with a best of 208.1 in 1.5 miles
and 204.5 in the mile.
Now the Turbo 14R - best of 223.1 in the mile and 224.6 in the 1.5

No governor for me :) . And I was mostly kidding.

I have big respect for the S1000rr/hp4 and the modded zx10r's, and other bikes of that class.

No doubt, if the speed is right, and they have the right rider; I can expect a loss in the straight line race column. In the twisties its even worse for us, so I have no doubt I'd get whooped.

You guys have it all wrong. It's ONLY about the rider at this point. With power to weight being INSANE in both cases there isn't much else to discuss. I used to go 6.7s through the 1/8 on a CBR600RR at STOCK WHEELBASE with a total riding experience of less than a year. I'm curious what I could do with it now... Hmmmm...

Here's the thing, the RR has an incredible P/W ratio, BUT a properly flashed 14R has
MASSIVE torque EVERWHERE ! So no matter what happens in a race, the RR is not going
to have all that torque on tap .... just my 2 cents ...

Sometimes a zx10r is enough to keep those pesky beemers at bay. Or, at least a rider with a bigger set of stones.

I think I can provide some additional insight into this, as I own both a 2010 s1Krr and a zx-14r. The zx is faster off the line due to a lot more low rpm torque and slightly shorter gearing, but unless you have fitted a quick-shifter or you're Rickey Gadson, the BMW will eat you alive by 4th gear as that bike does come with quick-shifter from the factory, it's lighter, and offers less wind resistance. On a road course, it's no contest as we're talking apples and oranges here.

Yes, the s1000's front end is almost weightless, regardless of what speed you are running, when you get it would up to the higher RPMs.

Milanista, yeah I agree 100%. I'm not really trying to start a pissing contest with the BMW's or any other bikes. IF I could, I would own a HP4.

Of all the SS class bikes Ive ridden or sat on; that one at the bike show this winter felt PERFECT. Almost like it was setup and measured for ME. And normally I would say I cant live with true sportbike ergo's, but that HP4 was spot on. Now, maybe after a 2-3 hour ride, I'd be singing a different tune; but it did feel Oh so good. The regular s1Krr, not the same. Unless it was just the price difference making it feel "lesser". lol.

I can settle this conversation easily. I own BOTH a 2014 BMW HP4 AND a ZX14R. Equal rider...down a straight away, the ZX is gonna leave you embarrassed. Twisty's, the HP4 is gonna hurt your feelings. END OF STORY. Don't forget...that's equal riders ok? Don't come back with all these what if's, I mean shit...if my Aunt had a dick she'd be my uncle...right? It's just that simple!!!

Hey buser! One of our riding buddies talked to Danny yesterday and he didn't mention anything. Honestly, we usually don't talk about that stuff much. Yes, he's an awesome guy, he really is. He rode a few British Superbike events this year but nothing's been mentioned about next year yet. Hopefully, with the changes going on here in the states we can get road racing headed back in the right direction!!

Hey buser!,
Yes, I actually heard the same thing from a friend of mine. I'm fairly sure he would have the right info on that BUT you know how rumors can run like wildfire at this point in the year. I actually went riding today with Danny's roommate and he confirmed that next year is barely even being discussed at this point, at the rider level anyway. I'm sure the teams are way ahead of what the riders know at this point.
