New 14 owner in the PNW
08/29/13 4:19 PM

First brand new bike I have bought since my 1st (KLR250) in 1986. Very impressed with the handling, brakes and power.

I added it to my current stable of bikes - 99 XX, 02 Tiller, and 09 DR650.

I think it will make a nice addition!

Love the avatar!

Been there a few times - this pic from the 2013 annual trip, Blackbird is mine, 14 belongs to a good friend. If I can get luggage sorted out, I will be taking my 14 this next year.

That xx is a hard bike to find in good shape anymore, those roads look very inviting!

Washington State, Tacoma area.

We do have some amazing roads out this way, unfortunately it rains a lot of the year. I am going to try not to take the 14r out riding in the rain, but I'm sure it will happen. I am a year round rider...

That xx is a hard bike to find in good shape anymore

I have had mine for about 4 years, put close to 30k on it. It is my second Blackbird, my first one gave it's life so I could keep riding.

This one currently has 52k on the odo. I finally have it modded just the way I like for Sport touring, but the 14r was calling my name. My XX is not perfect, but most people have a hard time believing that it is a 14 year old bike. Honda knew what they were doing when they designed the BB, too bad they didn't stay in the Hyperbike war.

After a recent ride on my 14r I was questioning if I was going to still have love for the XX. Went for a spirited ride on the Blackbird and answered that - absolutely still love that bike!

I had a blackbird also. Great bike but I traded it for a zx12 because the xx ground out the fairings in the corners. The zx12 touched down within weeks also but not as bad as the bird. The 14r hasn't ever touched down
