Thanks for the guidance folks

As they say in Paris Texas, that's hot.

Hopefully not as much.

I picked up a cheapie 2007 ZX-14 header at a local yard sale for forty Somalians.

Sent it out to Jet Hot Coat last week, fast turn around, it came back today.

Gorgeous.

The Beauty and the Beast.

Heat is the issue. With a catalyst in each muffler, and a catalyst in the header the heat was oppressive.

The Cats in each canister are gone, replaced with my home made Tsukigi slip-ons, clic the pic.

The cat in the header threw off a lot of heat and it stank. Getting rid of the cat, and the Jet Hot Coat should lower the temperature and might provide a couple of ponies.

With cat ....

without cat .....

Kinda cool, there's a diffuser built in to eliminate reversion.

Tsukigi, to my knowledge, never made a Race Carbon Canister slip-on for the ZX-14.

I have that canister on my REX and wanted the same look on the 14.

I had a source for the canisters, not for the mid-pipes.

I bought a take off exhaust system, sectioned it, and mounted the Tsukigi canisters.

So I guess it's kind of homemade.

That is COOL! I would love to do stuff like that. Very little of my modding was hand made. It is enormously satisfying to MAKE your own stuff. Then it really is one of a kind and part of you is in the bike.

I have considered making my own exhaust. Can and all pipes. Then I thought about the time it would take and the tools that would be out of the question unless I rented and when all was said and done could I do better than old Hiroyasu Tsukigi, himself??

nope. cough up the dough. The design alone is prolly the biggest thing that we pay for. I don't think the materials or the labor is that costly.

Recently wondered what it would take to make a set of wheels. I don't think I will try that one either.
