matt black is beautiful but if you don't like it, get the older one and check the price of a set of fairings in the color you like best. They're all the same underneath. ..aside from some not very necessary upgrades on the 2016.

Rook, what are the upgrades you're referring to on the 2016? (note: I'm not talking about the SE, I realize that has Brembo brake calipers & master cylinder(s), stainless lines, clear reservoirs, etc.)
Those were the upgrades I was speaking of. I thought all 2016s had those. The brake upgrades are nice but I don't believe the Brembo calipers are going to make a lot of difference unless they are the top of the line Brembos and even then, you'd need to be an expert to take advantage any improved braking. Very cool bling though. Same goes for SS lines. You can put them on any bike for appearance but I have noticed no change in braking feel and I've never encountered any deficit in braking power with rubber lines. They just look a little clunky compared to a sleek set of SS lines.

Assuming they are all new, and you liked the color of the 14, I would go for the 14. Doesnt have stock exhaust restriction of the 16 and the insurance will be cheaper by quite a bit. Plus, the taxes are cheaper on a cheaper bike and if you take out a loan it gets paid off quicker so more savings on interest..... etc etc. The difference is much bigger over time.
