Pilot Power 190/55/17?
04/14/10 7:25 AM

Is anyone running the Michelin Pilot Power 190/55's? I am looking to do a couple track days this year. Mostly road though. Was wondering on longevity of the tire and if there were any issues with the 55 size on our bikes?

I put around 5200 miles on my bike a season - be happy if they lasted at least one season or close to it.

Thanks
Crix

My thoughts on the 190/55 Pilot Power 2CT:

+Turn in is better with the taller tire
+Raised the rear end

-Heavier
-Slowed the acceleration
-Twitchy at higher speeds, noticed the bike weaved in straight lines
-More expensive

I got about 3,500 miles of street duty, combined corners & commuting.

Picked up an oil filter. While I was there, I looked for a new set of tires. I saw those pilots and notice the profile. Reminded me of this guy. Peak profile with a hard center, soft sides. Perfect for trackday. But the parts guy was keen on the customer feedback and pointed more to the Dunlop. My BT021's are holding up well. Heavy tire, but for mileage and general street, I am no wear near that laundry list of rider11's. Mine does jackshit. Not even a handlebar wiggle. And though these are spent, you think I'd throw this in a corner as if new? Straight up riding fast, no problems. Still balanced at both ends. Minimal step if not even mentionable.
