GSXR1000 cans on a 14??
03/28/11 2:38 PM

When I purchased this bike over the winter it came with semi gutted GSXR1000 cans welded on the stock mid-pipes. I cleaned up the install with some better brackets and re-painted the mid-pipes. I personally like the look much better than the big chrome cannons. I prefer the look of dual exhaust and the "sleeper" stock look and stock-ish sound.

What do you all think?

They look nice but wondering if you are feeling any lulls in the rpm range....

Still snow on the ground Snogun, haven't ridden it an inch! Previous owner said that he didn't notice any difference at all except the sound. VERY low note and at idle and just a bit louder overall. The flow should be pretty much the same as a stocker or better.

Looks great. One of a kind for sure. I'm sure they are much lighter.

Lookin good. I bet it's a bit louder since the muffler area is about half what the stock 14 cans are. Possible cheap upgrade in the making here. I wonder how close the inlets are to the size of the midpipes on the 14?

Looks just like a chopped and welded busa cans. I see some of the busa owners doing that. It works for you. Lots better than stock appearance. One place Kawi trimmed the budget was in thinking about the appearance of the mufflers.

Great way to drop a little weight and improve appearance but if I had to pay >$50 for it, I'd just save another $100-$150 and buy used slipons instead. Gonna be lighter and improve flow some. If you are looking for a quuieter system, I don't think you are going to beat a stock system.

The inlet size is slightly smaller than the mid-pipes, maybe a 1/4 inch, but only for the flange that the can bolts to. The cans are actually really light weight. i didn't weigh them but they are definately lighter than the mid-pipes themselves. The welder did an ok job, they don't leak, but not that clean of a weld either. It really doesn't matter with the front covers that hide it all. If you drill out 5 pop-rivets on the rear you can do whatever you like inside them, even straight pipes with a stock look. They are for sale everywhere for cheap due to all the Gixxers out there with the 4-2-1 screamers. I also don't know what Kawi was thinking with the MONSTER CHROME POOL NOODLES that come stock, way too big.

Scuba tanks. I rode them for 11K miles. Laying under my bed if I need them for resale of the bike.
