Yessir grn! I am beside myself.
CRUDE! Nope. Considerably lighter. The color really doesn't come across well w this cell phone pic. They have very unique deep gold look that I think has an orange element. This weekend will have some fun upgrade disassembly and install tasks happening. I have been stalling on the spark plug swap- that is going down. The plastics are going back on soon so.... forks are done at Traxxion Dynamics as well. Should be front end assembly and maiden voyage weekend after this. Pretty stoked!

Gotta love that wheel porn. Here's mine.

I see you have some Bridgeport 90 degree valve stems on there too. Good move.

ROOK!!!!!
Wheel Porn is indeed good. The new Core Moto Carros come w the valve stem upgrade. I think there are a few changes; what are those rotors pictured on your virgin set? I was reading your clutch line replace thread earlier, which of course found me linking over to your bleeding threads where I spied a set of rotors that had orange or red
Outside edges. What might those rotors be? All that rotor talk gets me to the point that these new Carros accept stock Zx14 rotors. I believe the older models did not...? The other change is that these are modular in such a way that they could be fitted with minor hub changes and made to fit a ZX10r and maybe even an R1. Pretty cool in case getting a dedicated track bike comes up some day.
Hah yes that does look trailer like but that is just a dedicated zx14 assembly table i threw together this last weekend out of some scrap. The front tire/wheel is cooling its jets in the roll on chock under the table about to be stripped of its rubber.

Those are both the CZ 320mm. I just painted the edge orange. I usually touch it up once / year. Gets dirty.

You are correct. My Carro front has it's own bolt pattern. Tiny 6mm bolts that you better not torque too much. I busted one of my Tis. Upside is that the little Ti bolts weigh only 1.15 oz for all 12 front rotor bolts! I think I would prefer OEM though.

Sure hope I can find rotors with bolt pattern to fit these when the time comes. I think it is Honda CBR pattern.

That edge detail looks kickass! Great touch. The wheel photo as well. Nice work all the way around. Did you say you have used blue loctite on those Ti rotor bolts, rather than the loctite brand anti seize they provide w the bolts?
Further, what torque spec did you follow after your bolt break incident?

Why thank ya, Mike. Here's a view of the CZ 320 mm rotors with everything installed and up close.

Did you say you have used blue loctite on those Ti rotor bolts, rather than the loctite brand anti seize they provide w the bolts?
Further, what torque spec did you follow after your bolt break incident?

The Tri-R has pretty shallow rotor bolt threads compared to the OEM wheel. They were only about 10 or 12 mm deep and as mentioned, just a M6 thread that I'm not about to torque very heavily. Without thinking, I referred to the OEM torque spec since that is what Carrazzeria recommended. DUH! The OEM torque spec is for a lot beefier bolt. So that's how I twisted one off. I just went with much lighter torque and I guess I considered blue locktite but I see I recorded in my file that I did use the copper ant sieze. They have never come loose but I may use blue lockTite If I ever take them off. Take notice of the update under Rear Rotor Bolts. Scary shit. I don't think lockTite can hurt if it's light torque. The rear is not exactly light torque but those were about ready to hit the caliper bracket when I noticed them.

Carrazzeria Torque Specs, Rooks Suggestions

No Grease seal on bearings

Front Rotor bolts: 45 in lbs or just snug, high temp anti-seize agent.
CZ recommends that you use OEM torque spec for front rotor bolts. OEM front rotor bolt torque spec is much too high for the CZ rotor bolts. OEM front rotor bolts are M8 with and they are supposed to be torqued to 20 ft lbs. They have a shoulder which would prevent over-tightening and thread stretching. CZ rotor bolts have no shoulder and they have only M6 threads. The Kawasaki Service manual suggests 52~69 in lbs for a general torque spec on M6 bolts. I suggest that be used as a guide for the Carrazeria rotor bolts. Go on the light side because you are torquing in aluminum.

I applied anti-seize agent. Blue thread locking agent may be fine but I don’t care to take chances. I broke one front rotor bolt off and it was a PITA to get out.

Front Brake Calipers:
No info available. Threads are deep, OEM spec is 25 ft lbs, I went with 13 ft lb. Seemed like RH side might be stretching?

Front Axle Nut: 40 ft lbs
CZ installation instructions recommend half the OEM torque spec for the front axle nut. The OEM spec is 93.7 ft lbs. CZ emailed me torque specs which included a 40 ft lb torque for the front axle nut. I go with the lower figure.

Front Axle Pinch Bolts
Can’t find any info on these. Went with 10 ft lb but probably could go with about 7 ft lb.

Rear Axle Nut: 50 ft lbs
CZ recommends half OEM torque value for the rear wheel axle. The email I received from CZ tech support suggested 60 ft lbs of torque for the rear wheel axle. The OEM torque spec for the rear wheel axle is 93.7 foot lbs. I compromised and went with 50 ft lbs of torque on the rear axle. I think 60 ft lbs would be too tight. I’m not sure why tech support suggested that high of figure. Perhaps it was an error.

Rear Rotor Bolts: 10 ft lbs., high temp anti-seize agent
The rear disk rotor carrier can be replaced to accommodate rotors with different bolt patterns. I have the carrier that works with the OEM ZX-14 rear disk bolt pattern and I am using OEM style shoulder bolts for the rear disk rotor.

The CZ tech recommended that the OEM torque spec be used for all rotor bolts. Also that locktight be used. The OEM torque spec for the rear disk rotor bolts is 20 ft lbs. The OEM torque spec for general fasteners is 10 ft lbs ~ 13.5 ft lbs. I am going with the lower figure to avoid damaging the threads. I am using high temp anti-seize instead of locktight.

update: after one season, I had the rear disk rotor bolts come loose. One of them seems to have held. Three were loose enough that they were sticking out about a 16th inch from the rotor. The carrier bolts seem to be holding fonr on the rear wheel. I will clean the rotor bolts and use locktight. Torque to 10 ft lbs as before.

Rear Rotor Carrier Bolts: 10 foot lbs., high temp anti-seize agent
CZ installation directions spec that the rear rotor carrier allen head bolts be torqued to 30 ft lbs and that they be checked/secured for the first 1000 miles. The directions also call for red locktight to be used. The CZ tech email recommends that the rotor carrier bolts be torqued to 20-25 foot lbs and that locktight be used.

Since I am going with 10 ft lbs and ant-seize on the rotor bolts which are M8 threads, I will be going with 10 ft lbs on the carrier bolts which are M????? threads. I will be checking them frequently.

I had 3 rear rotor bolts come loose with 10 ft lbs and anti-seize. Applied blue LokTite to all.

Rear Sprocket Nuts: 25 ft lbs, anti-seize agent
CZ installation instructions recommend 35 ft lbs. I am using aluminum sprocket nuts. They have a steal helicoil insert but I have seen these turn inside of the aluminum threads under heavy torque. I torqued the sprocket nuts to 25 ft lbs of torque because an all aluminum sprocket nut is rated for a max of 29 ft lbs and also because 25 foot lbs was starting to feel very tight. I used Neverseize on the threads because the amount of torque required to remove the nuts will likely be increased from corrosion. I will be checking these and all the CZ fasteners often.

RE: CARROS!

So I was thinking this taking my Michellin Pilots off the stockers and throwing them on the new Carros would be a bear. Pfft, not a scratch, and not that tough either. The Motion Pro bead buddy tire irons and their rim protectors are great cheap tools. A little windex, and BAM. Love the BrakeTech Axis Iron rotors as well. Used the TI rotor bolts, blue Loctight and torqued to the stock 20 ft lbs spec. Got the front sprocket swapped out for my new superlight. The rear wheel is sitting on my Motion Pro balancing stand, as my wheel weights are not here yet,it is gonna have to cool it's jets right there until they show. Great day in the pole barn.
Almost forgot; the Driven gold sprocket nuts had a shoulder that did not fit in the machined recesses in the Vortex hard anodized sprocket. They are too cool and expensive not to use, so I ground them down just enough to seat in the spaces provided.

WEEE-hoooo! More wheel porn!

I've done that sort of thing with bolts before. Aluminum is such great stuff to work with!

Lookin good! The sprocket nuts look great! I was going to use the set of Drivens I have but they were a bit too deep for the length of studs I have. They would have worked, just the studs would be recessed below the top of the nuts. I was afraid of the low torque spec for the Drivens but I'm sure it's fine. Check 'em for a while. If they don't stay tight, LockTite will do it. Blue should be fine. The red scares me. Grn says it breaks loose but I'm afraid to try it.

Got the front sprocket on OK! Changing the chain too, I see. Good move

Get those babies on the bike ASAP!

Thank you Chrly!
ROOK!!!!!
The spacers are also part of the new CoreMoto pkg. I LOVE those guys. Very nice bunch. Chris from 58cycle is a peach as well. Thanks again for turning me on to 58Cycle. Yessir I blue LockTited every fastener that went down today. I am super geeked to get those forks back and do everything by the numbers! Settling the forks properly for absolute true. Aligning the rear wheel assembly true blue to the whole bike. Getting my sprocket aligned oh so perfecto-(got this way cool MP trick ass tool to help with that) I have been binging on Dave Moss tutorials for quite a while, so getting the suspension all warmed up and dialed in is curling my toes as well. Traxxion sent me a copy of their Suspension Tuning For Mortals. That will surely be a great resource too. Got my enclosed trailer frame cut square and leveled up before lights out. Should be straight ahead weld out tomorrow. Ordering a Torflex axle assembly Monday. That will weld right on this frame. A good friend gave me a 10 drawer top box, you know; red, drawers all lined with rubber mat. Perfect track tool box. This is coming together real nice. So excited and grateful. Hope I can sleep tonight!

I have a solo suspension tuning tutorial that might help. it seemed to work for me but if you have someone to hold and measure the bike for you, that would be best.

Here's what I did. I can't see that it would matter if you did the measurements on stands or with tires on the ground as long as you did any further tweaking using the same method.

Let me know if you need pics.
