I have a clean dash. The higher in rpm I go, the smoother the glass. I have a two combination exhaust test. That means I am running two types of primaries alone. Cough-cough... I am stock. Both stock pipes were invested for stock tuning.

That means I would have to Motty one and PCV the other so I match their loop in parts designed for their units. Why would I need these but to diagnose why yours is acting up or just stay home and try it on your own; did you click this? You guys are on your own. I don't need these units. I no longer compete, so why buy one.

You can tweak their 02 units a few ways, but for me to really find out that practical theory I have going in my head, I'd have to have one to see if it works. Thing is, I don't know if you can do it with one 02-piggy and not the other. Is it universal as in the absolute walk it will take? Beats me.

Getting back to normal... I think the marketing of that PCV is sending you off into la-la land. Meaning, eyes gonna sneak up on use is. Is that 02 going to play with your head or WOT?

You do know, your Autotune is the 02 and that means it plots as if it is in the loop or automatically changes what map you set. It more or less, cleans up that map you made is what might the PCV says it does.

So my PC5 and autotune showed this mornin'.

The software for the PC5 is the same as the software for the PC3, literally. Thought that was wierd, but I'm guessing my PC3 map should load to the PC5 without any problems then.

I just ordered the pipe, for my race header, last night and don't plan on doing the install until it arrives.

I'll keep y'all posted on how the install and tuning goes.

edit: just checked my email and apparently the pipe I ordered is out of stock!

This is more or less, SAE standard universal speak to the ECU. There is noting strange between III and V. It is generic windows more or less = Industry wide with auto having to live with the same written software too.

Have to get back to you on that, Romans.
Haven't tried to load a map yet. I'm not gonna until I install it. Not gonna install it until I get a pipe. Don't expect a pipe until next week. I do have one on the way, but it's a Brock's and my header is a Hindle. Fingers crossed it will match up without any hitches. But that's a whole different can of worms.
Right now all I can tell you is that the software that came with the PC5 is the exact same software that came with the PC3.

I don't think pcIII maps will work on the PCV I remember reading that some where

You are correct, until PC creates a database converter, they are not backwards or forwards compatible. At least that is what I have been told by one of their techs.

But if their values are the same as ours (pc3) i.e 0,2,5,10,20,40,60,80,100. Then we can cut and paste even if they are not backwards forwards compatible in the software....I hope ? Do these numbers match, if so we are good to go.

Midnight Saphire blue is great. Just ordered some 3" white vynil striping for a double stripe over the top front to back. Might do grill fins in white too. Plan to paint wheels white this winter. Goona look even schweeter. One thing I'm starting to notice is that black bikes do not show off the detail as well as other colors. Its always a silouhette with some firey blue highlights...but yeah, I love the color.

Oh, and I was also under the impression that PCIII maps will not be compatable with PCV but that many maps were available for the PCV and more were in the process of being created.<<This was Brock's comment about 2 months ago. <<at least I read that on the Inet and we all know that makes it absolutely true, gare-On-teed.

Interesting. One written code can stop both maps from being compatible with each other. It is not like the III has window's base and the V has a Linux base. All that is C and C++ means it has to follow the basic steps or code written.

Something like the, Tfi works universally with car or bike. A single resistor change in the V and she can read a whole different way too using the same map display. Correct me if I am wrong. Bridge my gap is the EEPROM.

I have been playing around with the software. Here is what I have found so far: You can not copy then paste. I can not find a way to trick it. PCV has a RPM level of 12,000 and pc3 has a RPM level of 20,000 The two do not match. Even if you only copy down to 12,000. Each time the same error message is given, list index out of bounds -1. I made a copy of a map and installed one cell at a time and it works. Air fuel ratio is preset in the software but you can make it whatever you want(11-16). They recommend 13.8 - 14.2 for fuel mileage & 12.8 - 13.2 works the best. Lots to learn.

Makes somewhat sense. It is like you cannot layer over. But if you hand match grid block for grid block, I would assume you could copy a PCIII map and just hand fill-in the grids the long way. Unless you can error code in somehow, but it seems more that tiny round of resistors set in that new motherboard says, No-Can-Do is BridgeMyGap someway.

Still can't do it . Must use a PVM extension file only. Whatever that means. But it's like you say, just hand fill-in the grids, No biggy. My biggest fear was that I was going to lose the use of pc3 maps. So far it all looks good to go (if your willing to print off a copy and then just fill in the cells manually). I'm just wondering how far off or how many adjustments the auto tune will recommend to the guys that were dyno tuned ?

Rook, if the guys start to report that the auto tune is recommending making finer adjustments with better results. Welllllll, I got to have one. Whatcha think ? I am sure it is like boofa said, faster with Dyno tune first. I would rather spend my money on a tool that I get to keep that can adjust to our many changes. Just a thought.

You can use the autotune part on a different bike too. Long it has the PC V

My understanding to the 02 is that this will plot the grid according to the cooling or heating up of the pre-heater, which is the 02 saying; I need to run like a thermometer to spike and lower the 10th of volts so as to change the grid back to dry or less rich = Which cooled my pre-heater.

Yes, you could pre-dyno the V before the bung install and the 02 is now running in the loop. Will it clean up? In theory, yes, it should run mean and lean, but in a dyno-run and that preset map.

Again, if we show up with that map to race with =

Hub please explain. You do not think we can use this to race with ? It looks from pic above that it has more than just a single air fuel ratio setting plugged into the settings . I know it has no way to read horse power or torque but once it is fine tuned, you still no like ?

Rom, That is one set tune for that day. I dyno a winter map, should I show up with that in the hot summer? So, what day that peak HP played out at, she is not set at peak for summer/winter/fall if I tuned her in the spring.

The air was dry
The dyno room was cold
The day looked cloudy
I have 3 variables I need to remap for if the temp and pressure changed 4 months later.

Ya but if you run the autotune on the day of the race, then adjust, it's got to be close, no ? This is a option that us fixed map guys don't have. We have only the dyno settings of the day the map was made. All those same variables that you speak of are still in play. The Auto tune guys have a option, we don't. They sit on a rolling dyno, so to speak . I am sure if I install a air fuel ratio meter on my bike as it is, I will want make changes for all seasons. No ?

RE: Power Commander V

No. I want to make the most HP no matter the fuel to air ratio = 365 days a weak. I want peak tune [not last weeks tune] for that day/hour/time to get up to the line IS this second [I get to squeeze year nuts all UP].

Autotune is your car. Every car these days has an 02. Therefore, you are closed loop and autotune away is man, that marketing language is going to mess with your head, I can see it now. I know this stuff is hard and is hard for me. WE both are on a learning curve.

I keep discussing this, I am going to confuse you and me, because I have phantom steps I cannot see [yet]. In other words, I can place a puzzle down, but it will not make the picture clear as in the next step. So, I have so much and then I come to a blank.

So, here I have info, but it goes nowhere as in, it stops. So, if you can follow: The software in the ECU has the map in open loop. All you did was capture the injector time opening. The tech is so specific, you would have to read so much math to know how heat and a measure of fuel can math out to a number. I mean, that is one entry. The water temp is a map that warms like an 02 and reads the math so the fuel does not wet [rich] or run hot [lean] and that water map has more math added to the measured vacuum of the air pressure is that map sensor. The air rushing past the air cleaner and into the ram chamber is an air temp that will change and so will that map math to the music or stoic or that fuel to air ratio you are chasing.

So the introduction of the 02 (autotune) is just one more water map or a IAP (intake air pressure) map or the other sensors that fall into the fuel trim of metering what is written. The 02 will reference that drop in temp at the sensor or rise in temp of the sensor; read the PCV/Piggy02 [the supplemental 02-box's map] and whatever that software reads at the internal glow plug [of the 02], she is going to keep something set in.... [Step??? I need to be building/writing the next step to that piggy], therefore, it sort of ends here. I need data; as in I need to be there deep in the tech BazzazKnowTheShitDayKnowIsDynoJetSameshitAzzMotty'Shit is all I can tell ya. I have no more clues. Was clueless to begin wit.

Even if the autotuner is tuning live,,what about the clean air valve ? I would think the blocked valve will cause a carbon up situation over time, or will it ?
For those who don't know the installation instructions say to block off the clean air valve in order to get a correct afr reading..

+1, totally. Doityerselfing is the way to go as much as you can with affordable equipment. I don't mind spending the time on the bike as much as spending the money on a tune - when you will need a PC of some sort to dyno tune anyway.
